Help us kick off the 10th annual Next Stage Festival of New Plays this 
weekend!

both!) of the first two readings, Eisa Davis' Paper Armor, Friday, October 
29 and Sarah Schulman's stage adaptation of Isaac Bahevis Singer's novel,

Paper Armor
By Eisa Davis
Directed by Leah C. Gardiner
Making her Play House debut with an intelligent new play exploring the 
relationship between Langston Hughes, Zora Neale Hurston, and their 
collaboration on the play, Mule Bone, Ms. Davis is the winner of the 2004 
Helen Merrill Award for aspiring playwrights.

Enemies, A Love Story
>From the novel by Isaac Bashevis Singer
Adapted for the stage by Sarah Schulman
Directed by Seth Gordon
>From the author of Made in Korea, Next Stage 2002, comes an exciting 
adaptation bringing to life the wonderfully irreverent characters of Mr. 
Singer, one of the most beloved icons of Yiddish culture.

Sex, Death and the Beach Baby
By Kim Merrill
Directed by Maria Mileaf
Memory meets illusion on the Jersey Shore. This funny and sweet  dark 
comedy about a drowning, repressed memory and forgiveness is Ms. Merrill's 
Play House debut.

Sunday, November 7
Women in Flames
By Tina Howe
Directed by Mark Nelson
Ms. Howe, the author of such hit plays as Painting Churches and Coastal 
Differences, which earned her aTony Award nomination, makes her Play House 
debut with an hilarious ode to her love of theatre.

Friday, November 12
Thicker Than Water
By Eleanor Reissa
Directed by Paul Moser
A warm comedy about a woman who brings her family together from all over 
the world, despite some never knowing the others even existed, by writing 
them into her will. This lesson about love of family is Ms. Reissa's Play 
House debut.

Saturday, November 13
One Week to Live
By Eric Coble
Directed by Seth Gordon
In his singular style, the author of Bright Ideas, Next Stage 2001, 
presents his take on reality television in this zany new comedy. Mr. Coble 
is a member of The Play House's Playwrights' Unit.

Friday, November 19
Pecan Tan
By Tanya Barfield
Directed by Kate Whoriskey
A wild comedy about family responsibility from one of the most exciting 
young African-American playwrights in the United States. In her Play House 
debut, a man whose long-lost daughter finally finds him, causes much 
consternation for his wife and her family.

Saturday, November 20
Swann
By Sandra Perlman
Directed by Mark Alan Gordon
The author of Jocasta, Next Stage 2001, returns with her intelligent, 
irreverent wit intact. In her latest work, Mars comes closer to the Earth 
than it ever has and four strangers are touched by life's possibilities 
under a brilliant moon in New Mexico.
