Thank you, Fred, for giving so many a forum in which to speak to these
issues. I am extremely touched by the postings regarding Issue One and I'd
like to offer some guidance about what the next step should be for those of
us whom this directly impacts. PLEASE contact the HUMAN RIGHTS CAMPAIGN
(www.hrc.org) and give generously of your time and money. The only way to
battle this amendment now is to take it to the courts. These are issues of
civil rights, plain and simple. Since when, in this country, have civil
rights issues been settled by a popular vote? The courts exist to protect
the rights of under-represented people. It should be clear to everyone now
that the LGBT community is sadly under-represented. Please join the fight
to ensure equal protection and equal rights under the law.

As a gay man involved in a longterm relationship (14 happy years and
counting), the result of the vote on Tuesday leaves me feeling terrorized.
Extremists and mislead moderates alike have inflicted injury to the twin
tennets of our democracy: EQUALITY and JUSTICE. We surely must fix this.

Thanks-

Matthew Wright

PS: Come see RAGTIME...a play about our country's tradition of hearing the
disempowered voice!!
