BODYSONG
Great Britain, 2003, Simon Pummel
Monday, November 22, at 7:00 pm & 8:45 pm
In the tradition of KOYAANISQATSI, BARAKA, and DECASIA comes this
award-winning new found-footage film with a musical score by Radiohead's
Jonny Greenwood. British filmmaker Simon Pummel has plumbed 100 years
of cinema to find the amazing images that constitute his beautiful,
mesmerizing hymn to Homo sapiens. Structured around the life cycle, the
movie gives us a new appreciation of what it means to be human. No one
under 18 admitted. Cleveland premiere! 35mm. 83 min.

...and the films for the rest of this holiday weekend.

NO FILMS NOVEMBER 25 & 26 -- HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Murnau's Greatest Hits
CITY GIRL
USA, 1930, F.W. Murnau
Saturday, November 27, at 7:00 pm
This little-known and hard-to-see Murnau silent comes to us in a new
35mm print! This is a tale of rural and urban life: a farmer's son
marries a waitress from the city and brings her home to the country.
There his disapproving father doubts her love and fidelity, prompting a
family crisis. This beautiful and moving film supposedly inspired
Terrence Malick's 1978 masterpiece DAYS OF HEAVEN. David Drazin, the
regular film accompanist at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago, will
provide live piano accompaniment. 89 min.

BUKOWSKI: BORN INTO THIS
USA, 2003, John Dullaghan
Saturday, November 27, at 9:00 pm
Back by popular demand comes this portrait of hard-drinking,
free-loving, foul-mouthed L.A. outsider poet and novelist Charles
Bukowski. Rare films clips and interviews with friends, colleagues, and
admirers like Bono, Sean Penn, and Tom Waits add to the flavor of this
excellent bio pic. 35mm. 110 min.

LAST LIFE IN THE UNIVERSE
RUANG RAK NOI NID MAHASAN
Thailand/Japan, 2003, Pen-ek Ratanaruang
Sunday, November 28, at 6:45 pm
Monday, November 29, at 9:20 pm
Opposites attract in this low-key, cross-cultural romance in which a
solemn, suicidal, obsessive-compulsive Japanese librarian from Osaka,
now living in Thailand, meets and falls for a pot-smoking, slovenly,
outspoken Thai woman who's about to move to Osaka. Cinematography by
Christopher Doyle (IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE, HERO) creates a muted mood
piece, and has certain similarities to LOST IN TRANSLATION, but has its
own flavor. Subtitles. 35mm. 112 min. www.palmpictures.com

BANG RAJAN
Thailand, 2000, Thanit Jitnukul
Sunday, November 28, at 9:00 pm
Monday, November 29, at 7:00 pm
A few hundred tough, bare-chested peasant warriors from the Siamese
village of Bang Rajan stand firm against an invading Burmese army of
thousands in this sweeping historical epic set in 1765. This is a
must-see for film buffs who love battle epics such as APOCALYPSE NOW and
BRAVEHEART. Subtitles. 35mm. 119 min.

NEXT WEEK:

PROTEUS - " An epic gay love story...A homophile AMISTAD crossed with
BENT, and better than either of those" - Film Journal Int'l

GOODBYE DRAGON INN - The latest from Tsai Ming-liang (THE HOLE, WHAT
TIME IS IT THERE) is being called a masterpiece. Misfits, lovers,
dreamers inhabit a movie theatre soon to be felled by the wrecking ball.
This meditation is something that only Tsai could construct and in
perfect timbre. Truly a must-see!

FANNY AND ALEXANDER - Time to bring the pillows! This gorgeous new 35mm
color print of one of the great modern films of all time -- is 188
minutes and worth every second!

FAUST - New 35 mm print of Murnau's last German silent film, it evokes
German romantic painters in the use of light and shadow. Sabastian
Birch to accompany.

ABSTRACT ANIMATION SHOW - Cleveland Institute of Art students debut
their new short works in this special program that includes films by
such luminaries as Robert Breer, Hy Hirsh, Harry Smith and more!

Just relocated recently to the Cleveland area, looked at my portfoolio, =
and realized I didn't have any shots of anything that wasn't designed =
and created by committee while in L.A. So now I need to do some new work =
from scratch to show to prospective clients. I am looking for willing =
subjects to do prosthetic makeup projects on. That is, the makeups will =
include one or more prosthetic appliance pieces. Requirements for =
consideration are:

1 - If you are chosen, a lifecasting will be done. Claustrophobia would =
be a big checkmark in the "Negative" column here. Rest assured that I =
have done literally hundreds of lifecasts and haven't lost anybody yet. =
Depending upon the makeup(s) I do on you, I may also do a dental =
impression. If you even had braces or a retainer, you are already =
familiar with this process.

2 - Rubber (latex), sulphur, and zinc oxide all figure heavily in the =
finished pieces. Skin sensitivity to any of these materials would be a =
contraindication to volunteering for one of these projects. Other =
materials that could figure in would be silicones and acrylic emulsions, =
two of the adhesives that are used. Also, there is a possibility that =
one or more projects could involve gelatine appliances, so die-hard =
Vegans (sp?) may want to pass on this. If you won't wear leather because =
it's inhumane, then you probably wouldn't want to wear rendered cow =
hooves and bones glued to your face (Ewwwwww!! That even curdles me, =
thinking about it!!....) To put it in even more general terms, if your =
face breaks out when you even think of putting something on it, stop =
reading and move onto the next message.

3 - Wearing contact lenses is a plus, as some of the characters may =
benefit from wearing cosmetic contacts. Examples of these can be found =
at http://www.9mmsfx.com/lenses.html If the subject has worn lenses =
before, it's easier for the subject to pop them in and out, rather than =
do it for you. On-set, generally there is a lens technician there to =
assist with this. I don't think I'll have this luxury for these tests.

4 - Patience is a requirement. Preparation for the lifecasting takes =
longer than the lifecasting itself. After the casting is done, doing the =
intermolds, sculpting, moldmaking and casting of finished pieces can =
take a number of weeks, depending upon my schedule. Then finally, =
depending upon the complexity of the finished makeup, application could =
take from 2 to 6 hours, which would then be followed by a photo session.

What do you get out of this? A copy of the photographs taken. A copy of =
your lifecast. (Makes a great doorstop or wall hanging) And that warm =
fuzzy feeling you get for trying something new. My eternal gratitude. =
Maybe a couple of lunches and a tasty beverage or two.Other than that, =
you get bumpkiss.

A resume and some pictures of stuff I worked on are available at =
www.alternative-realities.com , if you'd care to look.

Alrighty then. If you've gotten this far and haven't chickened out yet, =
please send an email to me at spfx1 at sbcglobal.net. Include a scan of =
your headshot, if you have one, or a link to a website that has some =
still shots of you.=20

Thanks for reading. I look forward to hearing from you.=20

all figure heavily in the finished pieces. Skin sensitivity to any of =

materials would be a contraindication to volunteering for one of these =
projects.=20
Other materials that could figure in would be silicones and acrylic =
emulsions,=20
two of the adhesives that are used. Also, there is a possibility that =
one or=20
more projects could involve gelatine appliances, so die-hard Vegans=20
(sp?) may want to pass on this. If you won't wear leather because =
it's=20
inhumane, then you probably wouldn't want to wear rendered cow hooves =

it!!....)</EM> To put it in even more  general terms, if your =

If the subject has worn lenses before, it's easier for the subject to =

in and out, rather than do it for you. On-set, generally there is a lens =

Preparation for the=20

doing the intermolds, sculpting, moldmaking and casting of finished =

take a number of weeks, depending upon my schedule. Then finally,=20
depending upon the complexity of the finished makeup, application =
could=20
take from 2 to 6 hours, which would then be followed by a photo=20
session.</FONT></DIV>
