Ships need lighthouses to guide them into port. And everyone needs some
Holiday cheer. So why shouldn’t Cleveland’s permanently docked museum ship
bring some festive lights to the lakefront? The Steamship WILLIAM G. MATHER
Museum is continuing its tradition of being downtown’s northern-most
Christmas lighting display.

Not only are the railings and masts of the MATHER strung with hundreds of
lights, but so is the Life-Line, a long steel cable running the length of
the Mather’s 500-foot long main deck. Following a Great Lakes tradition, a
Christmas Tree is also perched atop the Mather’s six-story tall Pilot House
to bring good luck for the coming year.

The Museum may be closed for the season, but it’s still very visible. The
lights shine nightly from November 27 through January 6 at Cleveland’s
NorthCoast Harbor. For more information, visit the MATHER’s berth on the
internet at www.wgmather.org
