Canton, Ohio - The Players Guild of Canton is excited to announce auditions=20
for its first ever High School Shakespeare Festival production of Romeo and=20
Juliet. This event will involve high school students in all facets of produc=
tion=20
including set and costume design, acting, technical theatre, stage managemen=
t,=20
costume and set construction. All high school students are eligible to=20
participate. Participants will also work with Guest Director Jason King Jone=
s of=20
Jersey City, New Jersey. A distinguished director with experience in mountin=
g=20
Shakespeare productions across the country, among Mr. Jones=E2=80=99 impress=
ive resume of=20
credits are Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and Timon of Athens for The=20
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, A Midsummer Night=E2=80=99s Dream at Nebr=
aska Wesleyan=20
University and Twelfth Night for the Shakespeare Festival of Los Angeles.

The Players Guild=E2=80=99s Romeo and Juliet workshop begins on the weekend=20=
of=20
December 18, when both the auditions for Romeo and Juliet and the finals of=20=
the Set=20
Design Competition will take place. The Set Design Competition was created t=
o=20
encourage the inception of a high school student scenic design for this=20
production so that all creative aspects of Romeo and Juliet except those=20
contributions by its director are generated by students. The winning design=20=
will be=20
chosen by the Director and a panel of theatre professionals on Saturday, Dec=
ember=20
18. It is not too late to enter the design competition, which requires High=20
School students to present their design in models and illustrated renderings=
. You=20
must contact the Guild's Artistic Coordinator immediately if you are eligibl=
e=20
and interested in submitting a design for the competition.

The auditions for Romeo and Juliet will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday,=20
December 18 and at 12:30 PM on Sunday, December 19, 2004. Students who wish=20=
to=20
audition must be available for a possible callback on Sunday, December 19 at=
 6:00=20
PM. The director requires all students to come with a memorized Shakespeare=20
monologue one to one and a half minutes in length.
