Arts Camp
 <http://www.fredsternfeld.com/> Fred Sternfeld, camp director

The program: FPAC is an advanced program for young people (grades 4-12
and college students) with professional aspirations. It includes
training in Musical Theatre, Contemporary Theatre and Shakespeare.
Students will receive training in all three genres, but may pick an
"emphasis" if they so desire. The program covers scene study, voice,
movement, dance, improvisation, audition techniques, speaking verse,
script analysis, voice for the stage, movement, stage combat and the
system of physical action developed by Constantin Stanislavski. As an
added bonus, a series of classes and workshops will be held during the
session that will prepare our older, interested students for
professional auditions and the college theatre program application
process. A showcase production of Contemporary, Musical Theatre &
Shakespeare scenes will be performed at the end of the session for
parents, friends and invited area college educators and theatre
professionals.

All new students and 2004 FPAC Production Workshop students are required
to audition for the camp.

Returning students from the 2004 FPAC Professional Training Intensive do
NOT need to audition and may register now.

Call 440-338-3171 now to set up an audition time or to register!

Auditions:
Saturday, January 22 at Laurel School from 1:00pm -- 5:00pm
Sunday, January 23 at Fairmount Center from 2:00pm -- 6:00pm

New for 2005: New location - Laurel School in Shaker Heights
Expanded ages by popular request -- 4-12 grade, AND all college students

Feedback from our students and parents:

"We fully expected Fairmount Performing Arts Camp to be fantastic, under
the leadership of Fred Sternfeld and his talented staff. However, our
daughter's experience far exceeded our expectations. She attended master
classes led by some of NE Ohio's top directors and actors, which taught
her new techniques for auditions and performance. In addition to the
theater classes, the campers really enjoyed the "traditional" camp
activities in a beautiful setting. She could not wait to get to camp
every morning. The campers formed such strong bonds over the 3 week
session that their goodbyes on the last day were full of tears and
emotions."

Dear Fred,
I wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful experience I had at
camp. I'm so thrilled I got to work with some of the most talented
teachers and actors in Cleveland. I feel I have grown so much as an
actress, and thanks to you, CP, Alicia, Doug, Heidi and Sean I now have
a "tool box" that I can use for the rest of my life. After having the
audition workshop with CP, I now feel prepared to walk into any audition
and know all of the right things to do. Also, through scene study class
I learned so much about not judging your character and making strong
choices which are both important skills that I can use for any character
I ever play. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also made some of my best
friends at camp. I went into camp knowing only a few people and came out
with 30 close friends who I can depend on and talk to about anything. I
wish I was able participate in more than just one session, because these
past three weeks have been an incredible experience that I will remember
forever.

Sincerely,
Jane Larson

Dear Fred,

This past summer at Fairmount Performing Arts Camp was a wonderful
experience and I thank you so much! Now that I have been in college for
a semester, I am realizing just how valuable the acting training was at
FPAC. I am finding that camp has prepared me more for a career in
theatre than many of my college classes have. FPAC took time to
critique each individual student in a supportive, nurturing environment.
My college program has neglected to teach many of the character
development concepts and the idea of "behaving truthfully and naturally"
as opposed to "acting." I feel so honored to have gotten the
opportunity to work with numerous area professionals last summer, as
opposed to the same one or two teachers that are common in the college
setting. Looking back, I know I really would have missed out had I not
participated in FPAC last summer, and I certainly wouldn't be where I am
now in terms of my acting capabilities. I think that FPAC is certainly
valuable for any college student who wishes to pursue a career in
theatre.
