[NEohioPAL]RE: Warning to all NEohioPAL subscribers

There is Spam (and worse) out there that is grabbing every E-Mail address
it can to forward junk, spam, and viruses, and no one is immune - even the
NEOhioPAL list. However, there is some information that may let you sleep
a little easier at night regarding this.

As a rule of thumb, a virus can only infect your computer if it arrives in
an attachment to an E-Mail, and you open that attachment. Opening just an
E-Mail will not infect your computer (usually - that may change at some
time in the future, but for right now, you're pretty safe.)

NEVER open an E-Mail attachment if you do not know whom it is from, or if
you are not expecting an attachment from someone. If you're unsure, you
are always safer to check with the sender. In addition, you can run
software on your computer - firewalls, virus protection, spy-software such
as AdAware or SpyBot - which will protect you. I hope that this provides a
bit of mental security - and happy holidays to all!

I remain,
  Sincerely,

Eric L. Sofer
