The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department's
COLUMBUS PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
(formerly the Davis Discovery Center)
is seeking an 
Artistic Director 

Two facilities house our performing arts programs for youth; The Davis Youth
Complex for the     Performing Arts in Franklin Park, and the Columbus
Performing Arts Center located at 549 Franklin Avenue, in downtown Columbus.
CPAC hosts two theatres, a scene shop, costume shop and rehearsal space. The
DYC hosts one theatre, a dance studio, three classrooms and an outdoor
stage.  Current programs include The Children's Drama Company (ages 9-12),
Park Playhouse Teen Theatre (ages 13-18), the Davis Dance Ensemble (ages
9-14), The Columbus Youth Jazz Orchestra Workshop (grades 8-10) and a
variety of classes in music, dance and theatre (ages 4-adult).  Current
staff include: Business Manager, Box Office and Public Relations
Coordinator, Associate Director, and Technical Director.  A Costume Designer
and a Scenic and Lighting Designer are on contract.  CPAC is currently
undergoing a major facility renovation.  Our goal is to reopen in April with
a fresh, innovative slate of programs and productions.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating,
directing, instructing and evaluating our performing arts programs while
working under the supervision of the Business Manager. We are looking for
the following requirements:
*	Preferably a Bachelor's or Masters of Arts in Theatre
*	Experience as a Artistic Director
*	Knowledge of music and dance
*	Knowledge of technical production (costuming, sets, lights, sound)
*	Experience with typical scene shop equipment and materials
*	Experience in creating programming for all ages and skill levels
*	Experience in selecting instructors, directors and designers and in 
*	scheduling performances and classes
*	Supervisory experience
*	Knowledge of business management, marketing and promotions a plus
*	Experience in successfully working with artists, production
personnel, 
*	volunteers and local theatre organizations
*	Experience in maintaining performing arts facilities and equipment
*	Knowledge of excellent customer service skills (internal and
external)
*	Knowledge of safety procedure and responses
*	Experience in a city government recreation setting is preferred but
not required

This position is full time, overtime exempt and will include some evenings
and weekends.

Pay Range: $15.97-24.07 Commensurate with previous experience and previous
