Kulture Kids' past year will be awful hard to top...but we'll give it our
best shot! Highlights of 2004 include:
* Artistic Director Robin Pease is named "Cleveland's Community Healer of the
Year" by 98.5 FM WNCX (Cleveland's Classic Rock Radio) and Healing Spaces.
She is selected from over 250 nominations and is presented the award by The
Learning Channel's (TLC) "While You Were Out" carpenter Andrew Dan-Jumbo.
* Robin Pease wins critical acclaim from Scene Magazine, Cool Cleveland, and
others as Mistress of Ceremonies for Dobama Theater's Marilyn Bianchi Kids
Playwriting Festival. Kulture Kids holds after-school classes for kids at
Dobama, too, as well as a staged reading with adult actors to honor the historic
Brown V. Board of Education decision.
* Kulture Kids performs for the Hungarian athletes and coaches at the
International Children's Games, held for the first time EVER in the United States!
* Kulture Kids presents for librarians from all over Ohio at the Ohio Library
Council's Diversity Conference in Columbus.
* Kulture Kids is invited to present at the Cleveland Association for the
Education of Young Children (CAEYC) conference, to be held in February 2005.
Kulture Kids performs for the most early childhood centers EVER during 2004,
including multi-week residencies at Oberlin's Early Childhood Center and
Hathaway-Brown School.
* KALEIDOSCOPE Magazine runs a full-page feature article on Robin Pease's
work with Playhouse Square Center in downtown Cleveland (professional development
workshops...teaching the teachers!)
* Kulture Kids is awarded an historic grant by The Martha Holden Jennings
Foundation to serve the entire Bedford School District with an oral literacy
project..a pilot for future projects!!
* Kulture Kids' first CD for kids is recorded, to be released in early 2005!!
* Annual "Aurora Pow Wow", co-sponsored by Kulture Kids, is held at Aurora
High School and sets new attendance records.
Whew!! See ya in 2005 and have a great year!!!
