DANCE DEPARTMENT OF LAKE ERIE COLLEGE TO OFFER 2005 VISITING ARTIST
SERIES

=20

The Dance Department of Lake Erie College is pleased to announce Body
Wellness Series, a guest artists series including workshops in Tai Chi
Chuan, Yoga and Pilates training.  These workshops are offered FREE to
the community with the support of The Harriet B. Storrs Fund of The
Cleveland Foundation.  Advance registration is required.  For more
information or to register, call the Lake Erie College Box Office at 440
375-7450.  No previous movement experiences are expected or required to
register for any of the workshops.  Participants should wear comfortable
clothing and come prepared to move.  All workshops meet in the dance
studio of the Fine Arts Building on the Lake Erie College campus.  There
is free parking from the Gillette street entrance.

Body Wellness Visiting Artist Series includes the following:

1.	Tai Chi Chuan with guest artist Tammy Starr

Tai Chi is a Taoist form of exercise, which takes a different approach
to exercise than Western forms of exercise.   The exercises loosen,
stretch and relax the body in slow and rhythmic sequences of movement.
The movements focus on regulated breathing benefiting the cardiovascular
system.  Experiencing Tai Chi leaves you feeling vital, fresh and
restored.


Tai Chi Weekend Workshop I:  Saturday, February 5, and Sunday, February
6, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.


Tai Chi Weekend Workshop II:  Friday, February 11, from 6:30 p.m. until
8:30 p.m.  and Saturday, February 12, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

2.	Yoga for Every Body with guest artist Erica Steinweg

This workshop is in the Iyengar method of Yoga.  A hallmark of this
method is the instruction in precise alignment applied to the poses, so
that participants can do poses safely and efficiently.  Please bring a
blanket and exercise mat.

Yoga Weekend Workshop I:  Saturday, February 19 from 10:00 a.m. until
12:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Yoga Weekend Workshop II:  Saturday, February 26 from 10:00 a.m. until
12:00 p.m., and Sunday, February 27 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

3.	Pilates Technique with guest artist Gwen Hunter Ritchie,
Workshop I, and guest artists Scott Meyers and Karina Richter, Workshop
II

Pilates is an exercise-based system that aims to develop the body's
"center" to create a stable core for efficient an effective movement.
Through the process of these exercises, the body's structure realigns
and balance is achieved in the muscular-skeletal system.  Right now,
Pilates is THE exercise program practiced by athletes and celebrities.
Participants should bring an exercise mat.

Pilates Weekend Workshop I:  Saturday, March 19 from 10:00 a.m. until
12:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 20 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Pilates Weekend Workshop II:  Saturday, April 2 from 1:30 pm until 3:30
