Hi Fred - Here is the posting again (since there were glitches before)-
thanks!
Hello Cleveland Performing Arts Community -
I would personally like to invite you to come see our show. The cast of nine
amazing young women and seven fabulous adults have come together under the
inspiring direction of Sarah May. We are all very proud of the show, and
hope you will be able to make it out to see this great American Classic
about the power and destruction that lies can have in our lives.
Hope to see you there,
Jen Clifford
The Children's Hour by Lillian Hellman continues this weekend at the Beck
Center, 17801 Detroit Avenue in Lakewood.
Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8, and Sundays at 3 through
February 13.
Please call (216) 521 2540 for tickets.
Here is what the critics have had to say:
"What sets this production apart are the deft performances that director
Sarah May is able to evoke from her cast." - Christine Howey, Scene Magazine
May's elegance as a director, coupled with designer Don McBride's clever,
folding-wall set, propel the play without rushing it. The set changes,
choreographed for the girls as if they're fulfilling their chores around the
school, won applause at Friday's opening." - Tony Brown, Plain Dealer
As usual, Rhoda Rosen is eminently capable as the conflicted grandmother,
Mary Jane Nottage is sweetly bitchy as a pain-in-the-posterior relative,
and the gaggle of girl students is appealingly gaggle-y." - James Damico,
Free Times
"More than 70 years after it appeared on Broadway, Lillian Hellman's first
play, "The Children's Hour," still has the power to hold an audience in its
grip. The engrossing production at The Beck Center of the Arts, expertly
directed by Sarah May, proves it." - Fran Heller, Cleveland Jewish News
