Jonas Wood -mostly works on paper

=20

CLEVELAND, Ohio (January 31, 2005)- Recent works on paper and paintings
by Los Angeles based painter, Jonas Wood will be on display at raw & co
gallery located on 1009 Kenilworth Avenue in Tremont from February 11,
2005 through March 5, 2005.

=20

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Jonas Wood studied painting and
psychology at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York and
received an MFA in painting from the University of Washington in
Seattle, Washington. He currently lives and works in Los Angeles,
California where he has been exhibiting his paintings and drawings in
several group shows for the past two years.

           =20

Jonas paints what is close to him, physically and mentally. His subjects
range from his immediate surroundings, to notions of friends and family,
the life and upkeep of domestic plants, interests in basketball and
politics. He creates abstracted figurative paintings that reference
relationships on several levels; relationships to the things he knows
and remembers, to the things and people he wishes to know. Through his
application of materials and the degree to which he abstracts his
subjects, Jonas personalizes the personal. Bright, vibrant colors, and
complicated compositions bring new life to the mundane, and simple
renderings of recognizable figures create a casual connection to the as
yet unknown.

=20

Jonas Wood will be showing his new paintings and drawings at raw & co
gallery from February 11th to March 6th. The gallery is located in
Tremont at 1009 Kenilworth Ave. This is the gallery's third show. Our
mission is to both show the work of established artists and to introduce
emerging art to the community. The Artist and raw and co gallery welcome
you to the opening reception Friday February 11 from 6-10 pm.
