I totally hear you on that one Shelly. I feel that we musicians get used
as well, especially when your father-in-law is a minister. It is rather
funny that I get asked to play a church service for free on major holidays
(or any other time I visit them)while other "visiting " musicians get paid
a few hundred dollars. It took me a while to get my mother to compensate
me for playing at her work. Everyone seems to think that when you are a
performing artisit, you enjoy sharing your talents. It never dawns on them
that your talent is your job.... not to mention the fact that we enjoy
having a few days off during the work week. I love to play my flute, but
sometimes I enjoy attending church to hear the message, not be so and so
daughter-in-law.
