The Hudson Players announce auditions for, "I Hate Hamlet", March 6-7, 2005
from 7:00pm to approx. 9:00pm at the Barlow Community Center on Oviatt St.
in Hudson, Ohio.

There will be cold reading, although it is recommended to read the script
prior to auditions. Copies of the script can be acquired from the Hudson
Public Library the last week in February. The Cleveland Public Library has
this script available as well.

Production dates are May 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 & 21, 2005. Showtimes are 8pm. All
parts are available and auditions are open to all.

Cast of Characters:

John Barrymore - Larger than life character. Must be evident he has lived
life to the fullest. Dry, witty humor. Enigmatic, theatrical presence.
Borderline scene chewer. Barrymore had the ability to capture an audience
by merely raising an eyebrow.

Andrew Rally - Television actor who is scared to death about doing
Shakespeare in the Park as the lead in Hamlet. Has relocated to New York
and is staying in same apartment that Barrymore had during his performance.
Andrew should be enigmatic.but in a TV star sort of way, like Noah Wylie
from ER. Is frustrated his girlfriend, Deirdre McDavey, will not sleep with
him. Also concerned about health of his agent, Lillian Troy.

Gary Peter Lefkowitz - Andrew's best friend from L.A. Total west coast.
Writer-producer-director. Shmoozer to the hilt, but also like a big kid.
Gary says everything that everyone else is feeling, but is afraid to say out
loud.

Deirdre McDavey - Ethereal, innocent girlfriend of Andrew. Is totally swept
up in the fact Andrew is playing the lead and is now living in the same
apartment as Barrymore. Truly loves Andrew. A valley girl-type.

Lillian Troy - Agent of Andrew's. Had an affair with Barrymore in the very
apartment Andrew is now staying in. Has a very dry humor. It is hinted she
is in failing health, but should be not be overplayed as such. Actress
needs to have Germanic accent. Should have a regal elegance about her.

Felicia Dantine - Andrew's real estate agent. The epitome of a New Yorker.
Should have strong New York accent (sort of Fran Drescher, but not that
extreme). Felicia summons the ghost of Barrymore by conducting séance.

We are also in need of a full size coat of armor to be used on the set and a
costumer. If anyone has any questions or is interested in costuming, please
feel free to contact the director via email: Claudia.Lillibridge at uhhs.com
or call our reservation and information number at 330-655-8522.

The Hudson Players are also holding a 60th Anniversary Celebration on March
5 at the American Legion Hall in Hudson, featuring an interactive murder
mystery, dinner and dancing. Tickets are $48 and the event is open to the
community. Call 330-655-8522 for more information or 330-650-2333 for 60th
anniversary reservations.

The Hudson Players are one of the area's longest running community theaters
and are members of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, The Ohio Community
Theatre Association and the American Association of Community Theater. The
Hudson Players are a non-profit 501-C-3 organization.
