who has spent much of this year preparing and auditioning for colleges to=20
earn a BFA in musical theatre and has yet to receive a rejection letter fr=

the prestigious programs to which she has applied. She is thrilled to have=

been accepted to the University of Cincinnati - College Conservatory of Mus=
ic,=20
Baldwin Wallace College, the University of the Arts, and Point Park=20
University. With quite a few decisions yet to come, her final decision wil=
l not be=20
made until April.=20
Halle sent me this letter a few days ago, and I want to share it for all=20
young people ages 9-21 in the region who are considering auditioning for=20
Fairmount Performing Arts Camp next summer! =20
=E2=80=9CYa know, Fairmount Performing Arts Camp was great last summer and=
I'm very=20
happy I did it, especially considering the demanding challenges (COLLEGE=20
AUDITIONS!) I was faced with this year. The program is simply ideal for=20
students really interested in theatre as a profession; even those looking t=
o=20
participate as a hobby. There are few educational theatre programs really=20=
dedicated=20
to teaching youth the 'real deal' and preparing them for what may lie ahead=
.=20
I've done many day camp programs, none offer the acting training that FPAC=
=20
does. The professional atmosphere alone sets the camp apart from others. =20
I'm excited to see this program grow! I just really wanted to commend you=20=
for=20
offering such an excellent program for students." =20
Halle Morse=20
Halle Morse is a senior at Shaker Heights High School, where she is=20
extremely active in the theatre department. Most of her training there stem=
s from =20
the Senior Acting Ensemble, a unique group focused intensively in movement =20
theatre. She also serves as a student choreographer for school productions=
and=20
will be directing a play this March. Halle is an honor roll student, a=20
member of the Student Group on Race Relations (SGORR), an eight year percus=
sion=20
player in the band, and a member of Jack & Jill of America. Halle has also=20
received theatre training from the Beck Center Theatre Conservatory, Clevel=
and=20
City Dance (ballet, tap, jazz), Pilobolus Dance Theatre Retreats, the Carne=
gie=20
Mellon University Pre-College, and, of course, the Fairmount Performing Art=

Camp. She studies private voice with Cynthia O=E2=80=99Connell of Baldwin=20=
Wallace=20
College and private acting with Brian Zoldessy. In addition to performing=

with the Cabaret Troupe, Halle has performed in dozens of shows in the Clev=

The program: FPAC is an advanced program for young people (grades 4-12 and=20
college students) with professional aspirations. It includes training in=20
Musical Theatre, Contemporary Theatre and Shakespeare. Students will recei=

training in all three genres, but may pick an =E2=80=9Cemphasis=E2=80=9D if=
they so desire. The=20
program covers scene study, voice, movement, dance, improvisation, audition=
=20
techniques, speaking verse, script analysis, voice for the stage, movement,=
=20
stage combat and the system of physical action developed by Constantin=20
Stanislavski. As an added bonus, a series of classes and workshops will be=
held=20
during the session that will prepare our older, interested students for=20
professional auditions and the college theatre program application process.=

showcase production of Contemporary, Musical Theatre & Shakespeare scenes w=
ill be=20
performed at the end of the session for parents, friends and invited area=20
college educators and theatre professionals.

All new students and 2004 FPAC Production Workshop students are required to=

Dear Fred,
I wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful experience I had at camp.=20
I'm so thrilled I got to work with some of the most talented teachers and=20
actors in Cleveland. I feel I have grown so much as an actress, and thanks=20=
to you,=20
CP, Alicia, Doug, Heidi and Sean I now have a "tool box" that I can use for=
=20
the rest of my life. After having the audition workshop with CP, I now feel=
=20
prepared to walk into any audition and know all of the right things to do.=20
Also, through scene study class I learned so much about not judging your=20
character and making strong choices which are both important skills that I=20=
can use=20
for any character I ever play. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also made=20
some of my best friends at camp. I went into camp knowing only a few people=

came out with 30 close friends who I can depend on and talk to about=20

This past summer at Fairmount Performing Arts Camp was a wonderful=20
experience and I thank you so much! Now that I have been in college for a=20=
semester, I=20
am realizing just how valuable the acting training was at FPAC. I am=20
finding that camp has prepared me more for a career in theatre than many of=
my =20
college classes have. FPAC took time to critique each individual student i=
n a=20
supportive, nurturing environment. My college program has neglected to tea=
ch=20
many of the character development concepts and the idea of "behaving =20
truthfully and naturally" as opposed to "acting." I feel so honored to hav=
e gotten=20
the opportunity to work with numerous area professionals last summer, as=20
opposed to the same one or two teachers that are common in the college sett=
ing. =20
Looking back, I know I really would have missed out had I not participated=20=

FPAC last summer, and I certainly wouldn't be where I am now in terms of my=

acting capabilities. I think that FPAC is certainly valuable for any colle=

added bonus, a series of classes and workshops will be held during the sessi=

that will prepare our older, interested students for professional auditions=20=

Now that I have been in college for a semester, I am realizing just how=

valuable the acting training was at FPAC. I am finding that=20
camp has prepared me <EM>more</EM> for a career in theatre than many of=

college classes have. FPAC took time to critique each individual stude=

in a supportive, nurturing environment. My college program has neglect=

to teach many of the character development concepts and the idea of "behavin=

truthfully and naturally" as opposed to "acting." I feel so honored to=

have gotten the opportunity to work with numerous area professionals last=20
summer, as opposed to the same one or two teachers that are common in the=20
college setting. Looking back, I know I really would have missed out h=

not participated in FPAC last summer, and I certainly wouldn't be where I am=

in terms of my acting capabilities. I think that FPAC is certainly=20
valuable for any college student who wishes to pursue a career in=20
