Lakewood, OH-- The Beck Center for the Arts proudly presents
On the Town, opening on the Mackey Main Stage March 18th and running
through April 10th.

On the Town is legendary composer Leonard Bernstein's first
venture into the realm of musical comedy. His 1944 Broadway premier
made history as the first musical to be composed by a classically
trained symphonist. It was also the first musical to feature
choreography by Jerome Robbins and the first interracial chorus of
dancers.

Fred Sternfeld directs this uplifting show featuring such memorable
songs as "Lucky to Be Me" and "New York, New York." Musical Staging and
Choreography are by Martin Cespedes and Music Direction is by Larry
Goodpaster. On the Town will have you singing along and rooting for the
loveable characters and tunes that have been immortalized on-screen by
Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. =20

Joe Fornadel, Colin Cook and Sean Szaller star as Ozzie,
Chip and the lovelorn Gabey, three all-American sailors on 24-hour leave
in New York City. Maggie Stahl, Amiee Collier and Katelyn Blockinger
also star as their love interests Claire, Hildy and Ivy. In this
feel-good musical romp chance, fate, and destiny toy with the young
sailor Gabey as he and his shipmates search the big city for love and
adventure.  =20

"On the Town is a big, fun, exuberant show with a cast of nearly forty!"
says director Fred Sternfeld. "The characters' pursuits are made all
the more urgent and poignant by the fact that they have only 24 hours
before they have to head back to war. 'Carpe Diem - Seize the Day' has
been a guiding force in my work on this production!"

The Beck Center's production of On the Town is sponsored by Newsradio
WTAM 1100 and LakewoodBuzz.com. Show times are Thursdays, Fridays and
Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. There is no performance
on Sunday, March 27.

For tickets call the Beck Center box office at (216) 521-2540 or log
