Dear Friends,

I was shocked yesterday to hear of Tony's death. I didn't know him for
as long as many did, but my memories of him are still fond. He and Mary
always seemed like an integral part of Dobama--imagining it without
them is almost impossible. Tony's love of theatre and of everyone at
Dobama was palpable, and he was always pleased to see me, and asked
after me whenever he saw my family.

I did have the privilege of doing one play with him: at the Kid's
Playwriting Festival we appeared together as rebellious reindeer in
"Reindeer Games." It was a large cast, full of both Cleveland theatre
stalwarts and younger members of the community, and it was so much fun
working and learning with all of them.

Tony was a major part of Cleveland theatre, and he still is--I know
that we'll continue to feel his spirit, helping us toward excellence
and joy in theatre.

My heart goes out to Mary and the rest of the family.

Zev Valancy
