                 Ida Mercer, cello

The first half of the program will feature works for solo piano performed by
the young artist Dmitri Levkovich. Ida Mercer will join Mr. Levkovich to
conclude the concert with one of Chopin's last major works, the Sonata in G
Minor Opus 25 for Cello and Piano.

Please enjoy refreshments and meet the artists following the performance.

Dmitri Levkovich was born in 1979 to a pianist-mother and composer-father.
He began studying piano at the age of three and composition when he was six.
By the age of 10 he had performed his own music in a Contemporary Music
Festival and had a reading of his music by the National Symphony Orchestra
of Ukraine. He is a 1999 graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. In 2001,
as a result of winning the Cleveland Institute of Music Concerto
Competition, Dmitri performed the Third Piano Concerto by Rachmaninoff with
CIM Orchestra. In 2004 he was awarded a Canada Council Grant for
Professional Musicians to support his studies at the Cleveland Institute of
Music where he is currently a student of Sergei Babayan. At the Institute he
was awarded the Sadie Zellen Piano Prize.

Ida Mercer, cellist and founding board member of Red {an orchestra}, has
served on the Cleveland Music School Settlement faculty since 1998. In 2002,
Ms. Mercer was named "Studio teacher of the Year" by the Ohio String
Teachers Association. She has played with the Cleveland Opera Orchestra
