existing chamber music festival, situated on the shores of Lake Michigan=E2=

Little Traverse Bay in northern Michigan. The 8-week summer music festival=20
provides advanced singers the opportunity to immerse themselves in studying=20=
a wide=20
range of skills: vocal technique, recital repertoire, operatic role preparat=
ion,=20
stage presentation, acting technique, and performance experience, culminatin=
g=20
in a staged opera at the end of the season. We seek an opera stage director=20
who can craft a creative production for this small but vigorous program. The=
=20
director will serve as a mentor to the student singers while teaching them a=
bout=20
process and technique. The opera, La Boheme, is produced in two venues in a=20
formal workshop/studio style with piano accompaniment. Maestro Timothy Cheek=
=20
will be conducting. The performance space lends itself to unique and innovat=
ive=20
approaches. The director will also have the opportunity to collaborate with=20=
a=20
22-member production staff of seasoned professionals and early-career artist=
s=20
and technicians. Dates of employment are July 17-August 14. =20
