the Avon Historical Society. Hear some great stories about the Great =
Lakes with Bette Lou Higgins at the Old Town Hall; Rat 611 & Rat 254 in =
Avon. This program is FREE and open to the public.

* May 18, 2005; 6 PM: MEET THE PEOPLE: PHOEBE FARR at the Avon Oaks =
Country Club for the Lorain County Historical Society. Pioneer Phoebee =
Farr, who came to Lorain in 1818 and wrote an autobiography in 1890, =
will be portrayed by Bette Lou Higgins in first-person program. This is =
a dinner event. For tickets and additional information contact the =

*May 24, 2005; 7 PM: ORDINARY PEOPLE IN EXTRAORDINARY TIMES: STORIES =
FROM WORLD WAR II will premier at Ritter Library; 5680 Liberty Ave.; =
Vermilion, Ohio. This new storytelling program will spotlight some of =
the extraordinary people and events from W.W.II in honor of Armed Forces =
Day and Memorial Day.  Some of the stories you'll hear include the =
harrowing tale of Margaret Bourke-White and 400 nurses who were =
torpedoed on their way to Africa, the story of Rodger Young who became a =
hero through his selfless courage, and the touching story of the girl =
"back home" and the soldier who have continued to write to each other to =
this very day. This program is FREE and open to the public, but =
