The Friends of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center will present a reading
of the play "Breakfast at the Regency" by Milton Matz. The event will take
place on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. in Drinko Hall on the Cleveland
State University Campus, 2001 Euclid Avenue. "Breakfast at the Regency" is
a powerful love story of a husband and wife who have taken up residence in
a San Francisco hotel in the last days of the wife's life. Both are
psychologists struggling through concerns that have plagued their marriage.
This fictional play dramatizes the relationship of trauma suffered by the
wife during the Holocaust to issues now surfacing at the end of her life. A
discussion with the playwright will follow the reading of the play.
Dr. Matz is a management consultant, lecturer and playwright. A retired
Rabbi and clinical psychologist, Dr. Matz was co-founder and emeritus
director of the Pastoral Psychology Institute at the Case Western Reserve
School of Medicine. Dr. Matz's first play, the award winning "Baruch and
Maria," about the excommunication trial of Baruch Spinoza, was read in
April, 2001 at Cleveland State University's Factory Theater.
This event will support the work of the Cleveland Psychoanalytic Center.
The Center provides both professional and community education including a
library and offers consultation and referral services. The Center's mission
is to promote the development and use of psychoanalysis for the benefit of
the community.
Tickets are $5.00 (CSU student); $15.00 (Individual) and $25.00 (Patron).
