Prelude2Cinema wishes to thank Plain Dealer entertainment Reporter Julie Washington for her story on the Wrap Party in the Arts section of Friday's May 15th Plain Dealer. Here is it below.

Party in the dark

Meet the cast and crew of "Out of Darkness," a proposed television series being shot in the Cleveland area, at a Dark Wrap Party. The free event takes place at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Velvet Dog, 1280 West Sixth St., Cleveland.

If you arrive at 5 p.m., you can be an extra in an upcoming episode being shot at the Velvet Dog that night. In that scene, a famous actress who is a former Clevelander returns home to party, and she gets a little wild.

"She's off her medication," explained series creator, writer and director Alex Michaels. Clips from the first episode will be shown at the party.

The "Out of Darkness" gang is celebrating the completion of the first episode of the series, which blends crime with science fiction. A similar wrap party was held for the pilot episode last year, but the first show features several new actors, said Michaels, who lives in Cleveland.

He's lining up investors by agreeing to feature their businesses or products in future shows. Once he has four episodes in the can, Michaels plans to buy time on television stations to air them as a miniseries.

FOR THE PARTY, PLEASE RSVP. Thanks.
