Summer 2005 H.O.T.Camps:
Performing Arts Education Programs in Residence
At Weathervane Playhouse

Weathervane Playhouse announces the H.O.T. (Hands on Theatre) Summer 
workshops and classes for children ages 4 -18. Classes in performance, vocal 
music and dance and audition techniques begin the week of June 6 –  August 
14, 2005.  Classes meet weekdays at Weathervane Playhouse. Weathervane’s 
Summer session is the final session of our comprehensive 2004-2005 Education 
program.  The students have a wide choice of theatre education classes to 
choose from and the sessions will all be taught by working theatre 
professionals from Northeast Ohio. Parents are raving about the experiences 
their children are having, “ …my daughter loved the class, the teacher and 
the friends she made. She can’t wait to back for the next session.”- Spring 
2003 Parent Survey. Registration has begun and space is limited, so call 
today.
The following is the list of available classes:

Hands On Theatre
Weathervane’s summer workshops are Hands On Theatre and fun!
This summer we offer three sessions of Weathervane‘s Hands On Theater
program for young people ages 6 -12 in our new state-of-the-art education
facility. In a comprehensive theater- training program led by theatre
professionals, students will learn all about acting, improvisation, stage
directions, auditioning, and more. Spaces are limited.
Classes meet: Monday – Friday 10 am - 2 pm   Cost: $260.00 for each session

One-Week Theatre Workshops

Pre-school Playhouse
Session for 4 and 5 year olds. Students will discover the joy of creating a 
theatrical experience through theatre games, storytelling, and creative 
drama.	Spaces are limited.
4- and 5- year-olds      June 6-10, 2005    10:00 am - 12:00 pm    Cost:

Audition Workshop
This workshop is designed for students age 13 and older. Students will 
create their own "audition packages" including the preparation of a resume 
and how to maximize the effect of an audition.
Three contrasting, two-minute monologues are required for the first class.

Musical Theater Workshop
This workshop is custom-designed to meet the individual needs of students 
ages 9 –12. Theater training in voice dance and sight-reading allows 
students to advance at their own pace.

Weathervane’s Premiere Theatre Education Program

Summer Stock for Teens
This theatre workshop is designed for students, ages 14 & older that have 
already had some theatrical experience on stage or behind the scenes. This 
workshop is a theatre performance lab.  Students accepted into this intense 
theatre-training program form their own production company, under the 
supervision of a director, for the purpose of producing and presenting their 
own independent production. There will be two public performances of Frank 
Wedekind’s 1891 play  Spring Awakening, a Victorian exploration of teen 
sexual discovery.   August 12 &13, 2005,in the Dietz Theatre.

Directed/Taught by Sean McConaha, Weathervane’s Director of Education.
Space is limited to 18 acting and 4 technical positions.

Monday - Friday, August 1 -13, 2005 Time: 10:00 - 4:00 pm Cost: $300

Weathervane Playhouse’s Satellite Education Program: Medina County
Weathervane Playhouse, in collaboration with the Medina County Performing 
Arts Foundation (MCPAF),as pleased to offer a year-long, educational theatre 
program for the young people of Medina County. This exciting new program 
features six challenging and professionally taught theatre classes for 
grades K-8.  There will be 10-week Fall and Spring terms available, followed 
by several Summer Camp offerings beginning in June of 2005.

The  summer classes meet on  Monday – Friday in the Grace Drake Center on 
the Square, in Medina. All Weathervane /MCPAF classes will be staffed by 
working, theatre professionals from Medina and Northeast Ohio. The Summer 
session begins June 20, 2005.  All classes have a minimum and maximum 
enrollment.

The following Weathervane curriculum classes are the offerings for the 
summer session; please see above for class descriptions.

Instructor:  David Lemoyne
8- to 11- year-olds,  Tuesday, July 5-10 - (No class July 4, first week 
classes meet from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.) or August 8 – 19 from 10 a.m. –2 p.m..
Cost: $260.00 for each session

All classes will be held at Weathervane Community Playhouse or Grace Drake 
Center

Nearly 12,000 students and their families participated in Weatheravne 
theatre classes, workshops and performances in the 2004-05 season.
