Hi Everyone!
A few days ago I was encouraging you to upload your resumes and profiles to
_ARTISTSCHAIR.COM_ (http://www.artistschair.com/) .
As Performing Artists, you should take every opportunity to spread the word
about yourselves. You can create opportunities by letting people know you
exist in every way that is available to you.
That is why I also want to encourage you to join the _Cleveland Theater
Collective_ (http://www.clevelandtheater.com/) and upload your resumes and
profiles to that site as well.
Here are some facts about CTC...
The CTC website is being accessed by as many as 15,000 unique users each
month. Over 1,000 of these visitors access the individual member profiles. If
your individual profile information (including headshot and resume) is not
accurate, or not on the site at all, you are missing out on a great opportunity
to be seen. CTC are also planning on making the process of uploading
pictures and resumes even easier, as well as looking into adding streaming audio
to member profiles. _Margaret Lynch_ (mailto:marglynch at aol.com) and _Fred
Gloor _ (mailto:fgloor at clevelandtheater.com) have told me that they will also
personally help any individual put their information on the site.
For theaters, the CTC daily calendar is being viewed over 11,000 times each
month. If your performance information is not on the calendar, or is
inaccurate, you are missing out on potential patrons who are looking at the calendar
to see what is playing.
There is a cost associated with being a member, however CTC provides
individual artists more than a great searchable talent database. You can get hits
based on a series of criteria. If you need an African American non-union
male over 50 who juggles, the CTC site will show you all the matches, simply by
clicking the appropriate boxes on the search page and pressing enter. The
membership fees and foundation support enable them to continually upgrade their
site.
I believe that this and the free/discounted workshops, free/discounted
tickets, as well as artist stipends make being a part of CTC worth the nominal
membership fee.
