FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

=20

Rabbit Run Theater is bringing the 1988 Pulitzer Prize winning drama =
"Driving Miss Daisy" to its stage. "Driving Miss Daisy", written by =
Alfred Uhry, is a heart-warming chronicle of an unusual friendship =
between an elderly Jewish woman and an African American man. =20

=20

The story spans two-and-a-half decades from 1948 to 1973. Miss Daisy, =
already in her early 70's, is frail of body but not of mind. Fiercely =
self-reliant, she struggles with the lose of independence upon her son =
Booley's insistence she no longer drive a car for safety reasons. =
Booley hires Hoke as Miss Daisy's chauffeur. Miss Daisy bristles at =
the idea of having a chauffeur and initially refuses to use the services =
of Hoke at all.

=20

Hoke, through his innate good grace and patience, wears down Daisy's =
resistance over time. As the Civil Rights Movement grows and racial =
tensions mount throughout the country, the tension between Daisy and =
Hoke wanes, and in its place blossoms a friendship that transcends =
culture, race, and social standing.

 =20

As the years advance Miss Daisy develops Alzheimer's, but even the =
ravages of the disease fail to threaten the permanency of their =
friendship.

=20

"Driving Miss Daisy" runs from June 23 to July 3 at Rabbit Run Theater, =
5648 W. Chapel Rd., Madison. All performances begin at 8:00 p.m. =
Tickets cost is $12/adult and $10/senior and student and may be reserved =
by calling the box office at 440-428-7092. Box office hours are Wed. =
through Sun., 3 to 7 p.m.=20
