FREE SCREENING OF FOUR SHORT FILMS AT THE LIMINIS, SUN., JULY 31

The Liminis in Tremont is hosting a screening of four short films on
Sunday, July 31 at 8:00pm. The films are by Preston DeFrancis, an alumnus
of Case Western Reserve University and a student in the Master of Fine
Arts in Film Directing program at the University of Southern California in
Los Angeles. Dr. Louis Giannetti, often called the “godfather of
Cleveland Cinema” and author of the best-selling college film text
Understanding Movies, will give a special introduction to the screening.

The films to be shown are:
“Wiener” (drama, 5 mins)
Michael, a precocious 12-year-old, tries to cope with his father’s
impending death by recalling a legend about the infamously logical
mathematician Norbert Wiener.

“The Make-Up Girl” (situation comedy, 5 mins)
Lovable loser Mike thinks his best chance for love might be his blind
date, but his soul mate might actually be a lot closer than he thinks.

“Off Duty” (drama, 11 mins)
Jim is a lonely taxi driver. His routine is disrupted when a desperate man
throws himself in front of Jim’s cab just to get a ride.

“Making ‘Space Nazi’” (mockumentary, 24 mins)
In 1984, small-time student filmmaker T.P. Rollstein wants to become the
next George Lucas. But a series of disasters threatens his magnum opus,
“Space Nazi,” and it will take a miracle to get the film finished. This
film features Geoff Hoffman, who is currently appearing on stage at the
Liminis, Thrus, Fri, Sat through Aug. 8 in convergence-continuum’s
production of Tales of the Lost Formicans.

The event is free and open to the public. Free-will donations will be
accepted to help cover production costs of DeFrancis’s thesis film.
Seating is limited and reservations are recommended; they can be made by
calling The Liminis box office at 216.687.0074

The Liminis is located at 2438 Scranton Rd., in Cleveland’s historic
Tremont neighborhood.
