Alhaji Papa Susso, a master musician from Gambia will perform =
traditional songs at his first Cleveland house concert on Sept. 4, from =
7-9 p.m.
Susso plays the kora, the harp-lute unique to the Mandinque people of =
present-day Gambia, Mali and Guinea. This lyrical instrument defies the =
stereotype that all African music drums - and only drums. He learned =
his craft from his father, who learned from his father. The Sussos are =
jalis -the West African oral historian who have documented the culture =
of the Mandigue people since the 13th century.=20
Hear traditional African music played by a master of the tradition.=20
The suggested donation of $7 includes light refreshments.=20
