"ART_CADENCE" at the Galleria AUGUST 15 - SEPTEMBER 30

The Arts Network presents ART_CADEnce at the Galleria, 1301
E. 9th Street (between St. Clair & Lakeside Avenues). The installation,
an ongoing work-in-progress sponsored by ArtMetro for the Cleve.05
iNGENUiTY Art & Technology Festival, unfolds a media arts odyssey
featuring scheduled artistic and cultural activities weekly beginning
August 15. The installation closes with a final film screening on
September 30. Call The Arts Network for a detailed schedule of
activities for this week.

The "ART_CADEnce" installation is a collaboration between
Ninth House Productions, WAKE UP And LIVE's Actors' Studio, and
technology consultants to entertain, educate, and share information
highlighting "creative spirit" through glimpses of artists at work in
their disciplines. Beginning August 15, the grit and sweat of visual
design, technical theater, and acting frame-up the installation in a
transparent media arts production. Performance artists - taking an
acting class, auditioning, rehearsing and performing. Production
meetings, writers clache, and even moments to replenish the creative
spirit are a constant theme. From August 22 to September 4, media art
production at ART_CADEnce hopes to capture an image of creative spirit,
feel the rhythm of art, and record the flow of culture as Cleveland
demonstrates creative ingenuity for survival. These reference points
frame the backdrop for six weekly cablevision tapings at the Galleria, a
radio drama broadcasting from a time-warp, and a lot of local artist
participation. Raw film footage of the in-progress installation will be
screened daily through September 30 at the ART_CADEnce studio on the
Lower Level of the Galleria. A screening reception for the final
editted film will be announced later.

Original works will be showcased as part of the iNGENUiTY
Art & Technology Festival in downtown Cleveland. On September 1 at
5:00 p.m., see "Celibacy Odyssey" by Actors' Studio member RUBY FOX
before it opens off-Broadway at Theater Studio in New York on September
17. Ninth House Productions fills the spotlight on Sept. 2 at Noon with
community folklore when "Harriet's Journey" brings to life local
guardians of "free soil." And, at 5:00 p.m., a special jam comes to
Jazzberry's - with R.B. Kelly - for one night ONLY. Cabaret and
Courtyard music venues showcase popular local performers every weekend
August 20 through September 25. Poets who have remained literary
staples long after their passing are resurrected by "Too Long Unspoken
Words" from their best-loved poems. Friends of iconic literary
landmarks Alberta Turner, Barbara Angell, d/a/ levy, and Langston Hughes
share their personal connection to DEAD POETS' READING. Call the Arts
Network for weekend performance details and times. Or stop by & be a
"Creative Spirit @ The Galleria.

ART_CADEnce' explores arts disciplines, promotes emerging
artists, reaches out to 'include humanity and its culture,' and
increases community awareness of how accessible Art is in local area
communities. The production crew manipulates center stage to keep the
show running 'on schedule'.

This installation does not underestimate the value of
technology in presenting artists in a variety of performance venues.
Television, radio and cabaret-styled formats integrate lighting, sound,
and visual media technologies to construct a temporary reality patrons
can draw meaning from. Local technology partners - Calvin Knight, KSK
Digital Printers, RBI Computers & Audio, Midwest Voice & Data Services
and Broadcast Media Ideas Ltd., are professional artisans who understand
how the creative process connects sensory perception to the message.
Using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, they complement the
performers' ability to bring substance and form to thought and action
creatively.

The Arts Network rallies all of these unique artists
together to collaborate in creative projects, which stimulate their
professional development. Since 1986, the Network has provided
education outreach and community service through the arts. The dawning
of this Millennium brings new challenges, and with them new tools to
keep us busy "Creating solutions" in these changing times.

The Galleria at Erieview Plaza is located in Civic City
Centre close to Lake Erie at East 9th Street between St. Clair and
Lakeside Avenue. Paid parking in secure underground garage at E. 9th
Street and Lakeside Avenue is $3/hour after 4pm. The Galleria Food
Court opens at 6:30 a.m. for twelve hours, and two full-service
restaurants on the second level are open from lunch until 9:00 p.m.
