Music therapy is a well-established allied health profession similar to
occupational therapy and physical therapy.  It consists of using music
therapeutically to address physical, psychological, cognitive,
behavioral, and/or social functioning.  Because music therapy is a
powerful and non-threatening medium, unique outcomes are possible.

The Creative Arts Therapies Department at the Beck Center offers music
and art therapy for special needs students, including individuals with
mental, physical and developmental disabilities of all ages.  We are
dedicated to serving the needs of the individual.  Our certified
therapists work closely with each individual's support system, assessing
skills and needs, charting progress and documenting pertinent
information.  In addition to weekly sessions at the Beck Center, the
Creative Arts Therapies Department offers music and art therapy through
outreach programming to various therapeutic, rehabilitative, community,
and educational agencies including early childhood and daycare centers.
