Please visit our website for much more specific info:
http://www.adidamohio.org/events/artsfestival.html
A celebration of the Influence of the Spiritual Teacher and Master Artist=20
Ruchira Avatar Adi Da Samraj
October 22 and 23, 2005
Building upon the successful event of 2004 featuring the classically trained=
=20
and edgy Tom and Susana Evert of DANCEVERT, and the intriguing painter of=20
abstract explorations of light and energy, KATHY SKERRITT, the spiritual com=
munity=20
of ADIDAM OHIO is delighted to offer this season's ADIDAM SACRED ARTS=20
FESTIVAL: WORLD MUSIC, DANCE, ART and DHARMA=20
For two days in October the Everts and Skerritt will be joined by the=20
internationally renowned JOHN WUBBENHORST, master of the bansuri flute, and=20=
his=20
innovative colleagues of FACING EAST (www.facingeast.com), "the ground-break=
ing=20
Indian/jazz fusion group that has been described as the best thing since Joh=
n=20
McLaughlin=E2=80=99s Shakti group". The dance, visual, and musical artists=20=
will offer=20
insights about, and artistic expressions in response to, the exploration of=20=
the=20
sacred as the legitimate context for the creation and presentation of art, a=
nd=20
the relationship with the Guru as the means by which that context is created=
.
In this celebration of the Influence of the Spiritual Teacher and Master=20
Artist ADI DA SAMRAJ (www.adidam.org) and (www.daplastique.com) audience an=
d=20
participating artists alike will benefit from the guidance of the engaging G=
eorge=20
Greer, PhD, former Navy Pilot and Boeing Corporation executive, who brings t=
o=20
the Festival twenty-seven years of direct relationship with the Dharma=20
(teaching) of Avatar Adi Da Samraj, along with the experience of many years=20=
spent in=20
the company of this unique being. Greer will offer multiple segments on the=20
Dharma as the context for the artistic presentations. =20
John Wubbenhorst, one of the leading western disciples of HARIPRASAD=20
CHAURASIA, and his colleagues of FACING EAST will play a musical offering of=
 both the=20
traditional Indian raga, and world fusion. Their =E2=80=9CImprovisational W=
orld=20
Orchestra=E2=80=9D will perform totally free improvisation relying only on s=
ensitivity to=20
sound. Included in this extraordinary group are Steve Zerlin on bass, Ken=20
Anoff on percussion, Michael Sheppard, master keyboardist, who has performed=
 with=20
Jai Uttal, Airto, and others, and Byron Duckwall master Cellist. About the=
=20
groups CDs Facing East it has been written: =E2=80=9CThis is a great exampl=
e of what=20
happens when musical cultures collide in perfect harmony. The musical m=C3=
=A9lange=20
that=E2=80=99s mixed up here is absolutely breathtaking=E2=80=A6This one hol=
ds all the mystic=20
rhythms of the East, while maintaining a true grip on Western musical ideas.=

It=E2=80=99s a beautiful marriage of music and culture.=E2=80=9D   =20
WorldMusicCentral.org/article.php?ory=3D20030919024418369
The musicians will be accompanied by the ever-fluid Tom and Susana Evert of=20
DANCEVERT (http://www.evertdance.com), whose unchoreographed free-dance=20
response to the musical improvisation promises to be a highlight of Clevelan=
d's Fall=20
creative season. It has been said of the Everts:=20
"Surprising supports and lifts, Languid poses and stunning sculptural shapes=
=20
were on view=E2=80=A6there was real originality here=E2=80=A6the best moment=
s were, frankly,=20
in stillness. Their work is deep poetry"
THE  SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE
 =E2=80=9CTom and Susana Evert draw us into a world of intimacy and depth, w=

nitty-gritty of the struggle to be vulnerable, in love and in one=E2=80=99s=20=

CHICAGO TRIBUNE=20
"The most sophisticated work of the evening was surely Tom and Susana Evert'=
s=20
- the wonderful sense of irony and wry assessments of the two opposing=20
personalities---achieved through minimal and imaginative ways-makes their wo=
rk a=20
true delight"
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
Most recently and locally: their collaboration with NASA was in the 5 top=20
events of Ingenuity Festival .... " A prophetic piece"...."Magical" CoolClev=
eland=20
                    .......etc, etc.                                       =20=
 =20
              =20
These collaborations will take place in the recently relocated art studio of=
=20
painter KATHY SKERRITT (www.kathyskerritt.com) whose works in acrylic and=20
tempera explore the possibility of universal patterns and light as the sourc=
e=20
condition of what appears to the eye, and whose =E2=80=9Ccall and response=
=E2=80=9D process of=20
building surfaces on canvas with texture and color parallels the improvisati=
onal=20
risks taken by her Festival colleagues.
