"Thoroughly Modern Millie," a high-spirited musical romp that has received
rave reviews across the country, bounces into the Stocker Arts Center of
Lorain County Community College for one performance only on Wednesday,
October 19, 2005, at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale at the Center's Box

Winner of six 2002 Tony Awards including Best Musical, and five 2002 Drama
Desk Awards, including Outstanding Musical, "Thoroughly Modern Millie" will
have everyone dancing the Charleston. With book by Richard Morris and Dick
Scanlan, music by Jeanine Tesori and lyrics by Dick Scanlan, "Thoroughly
Modern Millie" is based on the 1967 Oscar-winning film of the same name. It
takes audiences back to the height of the Jazz Age - 1922 New York City -
when "moderns" - including a flapper named Millie Dillmount, who has just
moved to the City in search of a new life for herself - were bobbing their
hair, raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules
of love. Filled with frisky flappers, dashing leading men and a dragon-lady
of a villainess the audience will love to hate, the stage version features
15 songs, including two from the 1967 film, four standards from the 1920s
and nine new songs by Tesori (music) and Scanlan (lyrics), as well as bright
dance numbers. It is a delightful valentine to the longstanding spirit of
New York City and the people who seek to discover themselves there.

The St. Petersburg Times says: "'Millie' is thoroughly delightful." The
Atlanta Journal-Constitution raved: "Jazzy 'Millie' revives magic of the
musical." and The Hartford Courant concluded: ".It looks good. It sounds
good. It has a big heart. and [it will] put a smile on your face."

Tickets for this thoroughly enjoyable musical are $34.00 for Orchestra
seating, and $27.00 for Mezzanine seating, and are going fast!!
