CLARENCE  DARROW=20
Extended=20
Actors=E2=80=99 Summit Theater announces three additional performance of th=
e=20
critically acclaimed show: Clarence Darrow, a one-man play by David W. Rin=
tels. The=20
play is an adaptation of Irving Stone=E2=80=99s Clarence Darrow for the Def=
ense. =20
The play will have additional performances on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday=20
Nov, 25 and Saturday Nov 26 at 8 PM and will close Sunday Nov. 27th=20
following a 2:00 PM matinee. All performances take place at Actors=E2=80=
=99 Summit Theater=20
in downtown Hudson at First & Main. =20
The  Play=20
One of the most influential attorneys of the 19th and 20th centuries,=20
Clarence Darrow was at the cutting edge of liberal causes from 1880 until h=
is death=20
in 1938. From the Scopes Monkey Trial, to Leopold & Loeb, from his defense=20
of Eugene V. Debbs and the labor movement, to his defense of Dr. Ossian Swe=
et=20
and the fight against racial prejudice, Clarence Darrow was the most famous=
=20
attorney of his  generation. =20
In this one man play, Darrow reminisces about his childhood in Ohio, his la=
w=20
practice in Ashtabula Ohio, and his five decade career in the courts.=20
Glimpses of his personal life alternate with scenes from his most famous ca=
ses. A=20
staunch opponent of the death penalty, he defended 102 men who faced the de=
ath=20
penalty and not one of them were hanged. Darrow reviews much of America's=20
legal history with salty humor, courtroom gusto and human relish.=20
Critics have been unanimous in praising the performance at Actors=E2=80=99=20=
Summit. =20
"The big bluff talents of Neil Thackaberry, make you forget you're in a=20
theatre, watching a performer. ....here on display for all to see is the su=
blime=20
poetry and fascinating wreckage of a great lawyer." Tony Brown, Cleveland=
=20
Plain Dealer=20
A. Neil Thackaberry is Darrow. His task is daunting. Thackaberry is=20
excellent!" Roy Berko, The Times Newspapers=20
"Thackaberry's sheer skill and striking demeanor in creating this intimate=20
story, make for an engrossing experience...." Kerry Clawson, The Akron Beac=
on=20
Journal=20
"....a first rate performance by Neil Thackaberry.......excellent acting=20
lifted me to the point of not knowing where the actor ended and the charact=
er=20
started." David Ritchey, The West Side Leader=20
