THE FAMILY LINE by Peter Lawson Jones=20

"Director Desmond Jones has a talented cast, particularly Sonia Bishop =
as the put-upon wife and Karyn Lewis as her best friend." -Christine =
Howey, Cleveland Scene

"Director Desmond Jones does a pretty good job with the scenes in which =
notable action takes place, especially one that erupts in suspenseful, =
believable violence. -Carolyn Jack, The Plain Dealer

"In a lowlife bar, we meet Frank the bartender, one of those beloved =
know-it-all blabbermouths, lecherous yet fatherly, and an unrepentant =
matchmaker. He is a glorious comic archetype that, in the golden age of =
radio, would've been a regular on Duffy's Tavern. As played with =
Falstaffian brio by Afi-Nur, he demonstrates that everything old is new =
again." Though the play falls =
short of its high aims, Karamu is to be lauded for attempting to fulfill =
the more serious aspects of its mission." -Keith Joseph, Free-Times

"Sonia Bishop is one of this area's better actresses. Her portrayal of =
Sheila, the basketball player Brad's wife, was right on key. The =
character's emotions were clear and her frustration obvious. Joseph =
Primes and Karyn Lewis, as Brad and Sheila's life-long friends, also =
developed well-honed and realistic characters. They inter-played well =
with each other."
"Karamu should be commended for giving a voice to a new work. Though =
the quality was not soaring, there is a place in the theatre for giving =
a voice to new playwrights, directors and performers, and Karamu =
fulfilled that need with this production."-Roy Berko=20
