Third season of musicals continues with magical true-life story of =20

Kalliope Stage presents the area premiere of the magical musical OPAL =20=

through December 18 at Kalliope Stage in Cleveland Heights. =20
Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm, and Sundays at =20
2pm. There is no performance on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 24. =20

Book, music, and lyrics by Robert Lindsey Nassif, the musical is =20
based on the true-life childhood diary of Opal Whitely. Lost at sea, =20
Opal came to live with a lumberman=92s wife in the woods of turn-of-the-=20=

century Oregon. Was she born a princess, as she believed? One thing =20
is certain=97she changed forever the lives of everyone she touched. Her =20=

diary kept on scraps of paper is a remarkable view of the world =20
through the eyes of a child. The show is presented =93story theater=94 =20=

style, with singing storytellers creating a dazzling variety of =20
locations and characters. OPAL won the Richard Rodgers award for best =20=

new musical=97it is a musical showcase, scored through with beautiful =20=

new music and memorable songs. Kalliope presents the area premiere of =20=

a musical guaranteed to enchant all ages.

DANI APPLE creates the role of OPAL. Eleven years old, with more than =20=

twenty shows to her credit, Dani is a Rising Star competition winner =20
for vocalist 2003 and 2005, and has both modeling and television =20
credits to her name. MARLA BERG (Desiree A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, Nettie =20=

CAROUSEL) plays Sadie McKibben. Ms. Berg is known to local and =20
national audiences for her starring appearances with the opera. =20
