Cleveland based actors, Anne Markt, Devon Turchan, and Adam Kern will be=20
heading to New York City this coming week to sing in a concert version of=20
Elizabeth Swados' award winning choral drama Missionaries. All three actors=
 =20
performed in the Ohio Premiere of Missionaries at the Fine Arts Association=
 in=20
2004, and audience members gave the show ravishing reviews, praises, and=20
accolades.

FAA Artistic Director, Fabio Polanco, was part of the original cast of=20
Missionaries at the
Brooklyn Academy of Music and brought the show to Cleveland. Recruited in=20
the audition process, Anne, Devon, and Adam, along with the rest of the ca=
st=20
(listed below) spent months analyzing the piece to properly portray the fo=
ur=20
churchwomen (2 from Cleveland) who were killed, the community in El=20
Salvador, and the Archbishop who inspired the people and was also assassina=
ted. The=20
show is very special to those who witnessed and were part of it. The concer=
t=20
marks the 25th anniversary of the death of the churchwomen.

Several of the actors have been in contact with Composer Swados since the=20
production finished, and she has offered to bring a few people (due to budg=
et=20
constraints) from the Cleveland cast to perform in open roles in the=20
production. Adam Kern will resume the role of Archbishop Romero, Anne Markt=
 will=20
reprise Delfy, and Devon Turchan will play Carlos. =20

Concert dates are December 3rd at 7:30 PM at St. John the Divine =20
Cathedral, and December 11th at 3:30 PM at St. Lukes at 45th and 8th. Tic=
kets can=20
be reserved via _www.ticketweb.com_ (http://www.ticketweb.com)    =20

Anne Markt (EMC) has been doing theatre throughout Cleveland since she was=20
10 years old. Some of her favorite past roles include =E2=80=9CDelphy=E2=
=80=9D in the Ohio=20
Premiere of Missionaries, =E2=80=9CDorothy=E2=80=9D in The Wizard of Oz, and=
 =E2=80=9CSally Brown=E2=80=9D=20
in You=E2=80=99re a Good Man Charlie Brown. All of these productions took=20=
place  at=20
the Fine Arts Association. This past summer, Anne performed in The Secret=20=
=20
Garden at Cain Park, appeared as =E2=80=9CRobin=E2=80=9D in the Great Lakes=
 Theatre production=20
of The Merry Wives of Windsor, and attended the Fairmount Performing Arts=20
Intensive for her second summer. Anne is currently a senior at Mayfield Hig=
h =20
School and is auditioning at colleges across the country in hopes to pursue=
 a=20
degree in musical theatre.  =20

Devon Turchan, a junior at Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin, performs in both=20
community and professional settings around Cleveland. Devon began his career=
 at a=20
young age at Fine Arts Association in Willoughby with director Fabio Polanc=
o.=20
He is very thankful to Polanco who gave him the opportunity last spring to=20
be a part of Missionaries at Fine Arts leading to this opportunity in New =20
York. Over the years Devon has performed at the Ohio Theatre with Great Lak=
es=20
Theatre Festival in productions such as A Christmas Carol and Gypsy; The St=
ate=20
Theatre with The Cleveland Opera in Sampson and Delilah; Dobama Theatre in=20
The Secret Garden and in Marylin Bianchi=E2=80=99s Kid=E2=80=99s Playwright=
 Festival; Baldwin=20

Missionaries (in which he received the Actors Choice Award for Best Support=
ing=20
Actor), and Anyone Can Whistle; among many others. Devon is ecstatic at the=
=20
opportunity which has been presented and wishes to thank everyone responsib=
le and=20
all those who support him. =20
Adam Kern is a proud new member of Actors Equity, and a graduate of Kent=20
State's Musical Theatre program. He appeared as Archbishop Romero in the Oh=
io=20
premeir of Missionaries, made his New York debut last April at the Classi=
cal=20
Theatre of Harlem's production of Caligula. Adam has gotten the opportunity=
=20
to work with many Broadway stars, including Andre De Shields, Tom Wopat,=20
Rent's Karmine Alers, Adrian Zmed, and Gary Cherone. Other regional credits=
=20
include Deuteronomy (CATS), Judas (Jesus Christ Superstar), Anselmo (Man of=
