      Cleveland’s Contemporary Youth Orchestra
  launches its 11th season with a concert 
  Saturday, December 10, 2005, at 7:00 p.m., 
  in Cleveland State University’s Waetjen Auditorium.  
   
  For its December 10 concert, CYO music director Liza Grossman 
  will conduct Gustav Holst’s The Planets in its entirety, 
  Tan Dun’s Dragon and Phoenix (a movement from 
  Symphony 1997 [“Heaven Earth Mankind”] 
  by the Chinese composer best known for his film scores, 
  including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon); 
  and Paul Creston’s 1940 Concertino for Marimba and Orchestra, 
  featuring CYO member John Stuart Ely, III, 
  this year’s winner of CYO’s annual concerto competition, on marimba.  
   
    The Contemporary Youth Orchestra is a nonprofit 
  orchestra with more than 100 of the region’s 
  best young musicians, representing 
  more than 40 high schools.  
  CYO is the first and only youth orchestra in the country 
  dedicated exclusively to the study and 
  performance of contemporary orchestral literature.

   
  Waetjen Auditorium is in CSU’s Music 
  and Communication Building, 2001 Euclid – 
  at E. 21st Street and Euclid Avenue. 
  Tickets, available at the door, are only $10 each 
  (and include a post-concert reception).
