Alex  Puette (FPAC  =E2=80=9804)
Currently enrolled in the Theatre program at the University of Michigan

=E2=80=9DWhen I  auditioned for Fairmount last spring, I didn't realize what=
 I would=20
be getting myself into. I, as well as most of the other students that=20
attended FPAC last summer, have been involved with many theatre camps over=20=
the past=20
few years. For all I knew, FPAC could have just been any other theatre camp=
.=20
But it wasn't. Fairmount was a truly different experience.=20

My time spent at FPAC was extremely beneficial, from the guest artists to=20
the scene study we did with the instructors. Like Halle, I believe that my=20
summer at FPAC really helped me with my college auditions this year, and wi=
ll=20
continue to help me throughout the rest of my theatre studies. For any stud=
ent=20
of theatre, especially ones that are trying to pursue it as a career, I can=
=20
not persuade you more emphatically to attend Fairmount Performing Arts Camp=
.=20

I am extremely proud to say that I was a part of the first year at FPAC. As=
=20
far as my college situation, I have been accepted to University of Cincinna=
ti=20
- College Conservatory of Music, University of Michigan, and Point Park=20
College. It has been an absolutely crazy year!=20

Like I said, I really think the things I learned at FPAC helped me out=20
during this extremely stressful fall/winter! Thanks again Fred for everythi=
ng!=E2=80=9D=20

t!"

=E2=80=9DIt was 100% more fun than I expected. All of the staff members had=
 a fun=20
personality. I love Alicia's class SO much!! I improved so much, and I'm 10=
X=20
more ready to audition. I LOVE 2 DANCE.=E2=80=9D

her first leading role as Tina Denmark in Ruthless at Mercury Summer Stock.=
=20

=E2=80=9CFPAC has given me audition tips and confidence that I can land a r=
ole even=20
if the odds are long. =E2=80=9DI learned a lot about acting and singing. I=20=
had a lot=20
of fun. I'm definitely coming back next year! Superb staff - Sean, Heidi,=20
David, Carol and Fred were cool. Scene Study - lovely. The Showcase Perform=
ance=20
was great! I loved being a part of it and my parents loved watching it. I=20
learned a lot of important things. Fun! Fun! The Overnight? OMG!! That was=20=

=E2=80=9DThis was the best theatre camp ever! I'm definitely coming back ne=
xt year.=20
It was the best learning camp and it was the most fun camp! I liked how the=
=20
staff already graduated college so they knew exactly what they were teachin=
g.=20
The staff was very fun to be with. Next time I go into an audition it will=20=
be=20
great because I learned so much about it. I made a lot of new friends and=20
had a blast with them! Fred ran a great camp!=E2=80=9D

Danny  Gibbons (FPAC  =E2=80=9805)
=E2=80=9DHey Fred!!  It's Danny Gibbons.  Here's a little bit of  what FPAC=20=
has done=20
for me!! FPAC has been a phenomenal help for me, expanding my theatrical=20
knowledge and ability by giving me practical, intelligent ways to look at=20
character and character development. It also gave me a starting point to b=
egin my=20
own, deeper exploration of the art of acting by giving me book titles such=20=
as=20
An Actor Prepares (Stanislavski), Audition (Shurtluff), and Freeing the=20
Natural Voice (Linkletter). I have applied all that I have learned from FP=
AC in =20
the shows I have been involved in since as well as in every college audition=
=20
I have approached. FPAC also helped me improve my ability to look into the=
 =20
lyrics of songs and see the music as an extension of the play itself, an=20
entity that requires just as much acting and mental preparation as any mono=
logue=20
or soliloquy. Each teacher tailored their teaching to the individual actor=
 =20
and spent time to create a personal relationship with each student. FPAC n=
ot=20
only offered this wonderful theatrical learning experience, but offered it =20=
in=20
a friendly, caring, and interesting environment filled with kind, loving, an=
d=20
 fun new friends.

P.S. I hope everything is going well with you. I have been auditioning at=
=20
colleges and will know about the U of Michigan in about two weeks. Thank y=
ou=20
for keeping in contact, and thank you for all your help this past summer,=20
this is really a wonderful program.

P.P.S. Do you have the email address for Carol Pribble? I would like to=20
thank her as well.=E2=80=9D

"We fully expected Fairmount Performing Arts Camp to be fantastic, under th=
e=20
leadership of Fred Sternfeld and his talented staff. However, our daughter=
=E2=80=99s=20
experience far exceeded our expectations. She attended master classes led b=
y=20
some of NE Ohio=E2=80=99s top directors and actors, which taught her new te=
chniques=20
for auditions and performance. She could not wait to get to camp every=20

=E2=80=9DHi Fred! How are you? This is Erika Rylow from FPAC. I just fi=

thank you. So far almost everything we've discussed or done in my theatre=20
classes are things we learned at FPAC. I fully realize now how helpful cam=

for me. Also, today we had an orientation class for the theatre program an=
d=20
one of the teachers told us to sign up for NEOhioPAL and that it was=20

=E2=80=9CYa know, FPAC was great this summer and I'm very happy I did it, e=
specially=20
considering the demanding challenges (COLLEGE AUDITIONS!) I was faced wit=
h=20
this year. The program is simply ideal for students really interested in=20
theatre as a profession; even those looking to participate as a hobby. There=
  are=20
few educational theatre programs really dedicated to teaching youth the =20
"real deal" and preparing them for what may lie ahead. I've done many day ca=
mp =20
programs, none offer the acting training that fpac does. The professional =20
atmosphere alone sets the camp apart from others. I'm excited to see this p=
rogram=20
grow! I just really wanted to commend you for offering such an excellent =20
program for students. Just my 2 cents, I know you already know it's fabulous=
! =20
Thanks again so much for the character analysis sheet! Reeeally helpful!=

=E2=80=9DThis camp was an awesome experience. I've taken other camp/classes=
 and=20
those camps didn't really teach me how to act, they just taught their stude=
nts=20
how to be on stage. This camp actually taught acting in many different form=
s=20
(i.e. scene study, improv., etc.) Truly Educational!! The staff was very=20
helpful. It was good to experience each teacher b/c each had their own uniq=
ue=20
techniques & each challenged students in their own way. Awesome. Scene Stud=
y class=20
was so much fun! Magdalyn Donnelly was an extremely qualified teacher. She=20
taught and gave excellent direction and knew how to make class unique and=20
pleasant. The music teachers David Williams and Heidi Herczeg were highly=20
qualified. I liked the theory of breathing techniques. Andrew May taught an=

lesson! Joan Ellison gave an awesome master class on belting - Superb!=20
Overall very educational experience & a fun time, met some good friends.=

=E2=80=9DMany shows at the Cassidy Theatre, most recently "Christmas Past:=20=

 Ken Gorman in Neil Simon's "Rumors" at my school, Holy Name High, this pas=
t=20
fall. And I am auditioning for eight colleges and universities around the=20
nation for programs in musical theatre this coming February. FPAC really m=
ade=20
my summer worthwhile, it was educational in a way that truly realized how=20
much I love the theatre and acting. Through the courses I was able to take=
, I =20
learned how to become a more focused actor, which helped me land a lead role=
=20
in my school's fall drama this past November. I also learned how to prese=
nt=20
myself not only onstage, but backstage, and at an audition as well, skills=20
that will come in handy throughout my hopefully future career. I feel bett=
er=20
prepared for my upcoming college auditions with the many skills I learned t=
his=20
past summer, and I tell anyone at every change I get all about the wonderfu=

experience I had=E2=80=9D

=E2=80=9DI wanted to thank you so much for the wonderful experience I had a=
t camp.=20
I'm so thrilled I got to work with some of the most talented teachers and=20
actors in Cleveland. I feel I have grown so much as an actress, and thanks=20=
to=20
you, CP, Alicia, Doug, Heidi and Sean I now have a "tool box" that I can us=
e for=20
the rest of my life. After having the audition workshop with CP, I now feel=
=20
prepared to walk into any audition and know all of the right things to do.=20
Also, through scene study class I learned so much about not judging your=20
character and making strong choices which are both important skills that I=20=
can use=20
for any character I ever play. Not only did I learn a lot, but I also made=20
some of my best friends at camp. I went into camp knowing only a few people=
 and=20
came out with 30 close friends who I can depend on and talk to about=20
anything. I wish I was able participate in more than just one session, beca=
use these=20
past three weeks have been an incredible experience that I will remember=20

=E2=80=9DThis past summer at Fairmount Performing Arts Camp was a wonderful=

experience and I thank you so much! Now that I have been in college for a s=
emester, I=20
am realizing just how valuable the acting training was at FPAC. I am findin=
g=20
that camp has prepared me more for a career in theatre than many of my=20
college classes have. FPAC took time to critique each individual student in=
 a=20
supportive, nurturing environment. My college program has neglected to teac=
h many=20
of the character development concepts and the idea of "behaving truthfully=20
and naturally" as opposed to "acting." I feel so honored to have gotten the=
=20
opportunity to work with numerous area professionals last summer, as oppose=
d to=20
the same one or two teachers that are common in the college setting. Lookin=
g=20
back, I know I really would have missed out had I not participated in FPAC=20
last summer, and I certainly wouldn't be where I am now in terms of my acti=

capabilities. I think that FPAC is certainly valuable for any college stude=

PAC=20
has been a phenomenal help for me, expanding my theatrical knowledge and abi=

by giving me practical, intelligent ways to look at character and character=20
development.  It also gave me a starting point to begin my own,=20
deeper exploration of the art of acting by giving me book titles such a=
s An=20
Actor Prepares (Stanislavski), Audition (Shurtluff), and Freeing the Natural=

Voice (Linkletter).  I have applied all that I have learned from FPAC i=
n=20
the shows I have been involved in since as well as in every college audition=
 I=20
have approached.  FPAC also helped me improve my ability to look into t=
he=20
lyrics of songs and see the music as an extension of the play itself, an ent=
ity=20
that requires just as much acting and mental preparation as any monologue or=
=20
soliloquy.  Each teacher tailored their teaching to the individual acto=
r=20
and spent time to create a personal relationship with each student.  FP=
AC=20
not only offered this wonderful theatrical learning experience, but offered=20=
it=20
in a friendly, caring, and interesting environment filled with kind, loving,=
