 style="">  </span>Cleveland Opera Board of Trustees President
Peter Rubin announced today the appointment of Maidie Greer
Rosengarden, EdD,
to the position of Director of Production effective immediately.<span
 style="">  </span>Mr. Rubin commented, “After a national
search, the Board and I are pleased to have found an outstanding
professional.<span style="">  </span>Dr. Rosengarden brings the
technical expertise and artistic experience that Cleveland Opera is
looking for
in a Director of Production. We are excited to have her on board.” <o:p></o:p></span>

<br>
Dr.
Rosengarden, a native of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Hudson</st1:place></st1:city>,
has had extensive experience in technical theatre. As a lighting
designer, she
worked with regional opera companies throughout the <st1:country-region
 w:st="on">United States</st1:country-region> including <st1:place
 w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Michigan Opera Theatre</st1:city>, <st1:state
 w:st="on">Virginia</st1:state></st1:place>
Opera, Opera Pacific, Nashville Opera, and the Los Angeles Music Center
Opera
where she served as Staff Lighting Associate for six years. In <st1:city
 w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Los Angeles</st1:place></st1:city>, Dr.
Rosengarden worked with
artists such as David Hockney, Maurice Sendak, and Gerald Scarfe.<span
 style="">  </span>She recently lit Puccini’s <i style="">Tosca </i>for
the Los Angeles Opera earning
the notice of Variety critic Alan Rich who stated, “There is one
spectacular
improvement, however: a masterly manipulation of lights and shadows
during the
torture scene in act two…”<o:p></o:p></span> <span
 style="font-family: "Arial Narrow";"><o:p></o:p><br>
<br>
While
living in <st1:state w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">New York</st1:place></st1:state>,
she worked on projects ranging from Robert Wilson’s <i style="">Einstein
on the Beach </i>at B.A.M. to film and television specials at
The Kitchen. In addition, she brings ten years experience as an arts
educator
to her post at Cleveland Opera.<span style="">  </span>Dr.
Rosengarden lives in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Chagrin</st1:placename>
<st1:placetype w:st="on">Falls</st1:placetype></st1:place> with her
husband
and two sons.<o:p></o:p></span> <br>

with The Cleveland Play House May 2, 3, 5, 6, and 7 at<span style="">  </span>FusionFest,
