(Cleveland, OH) You don't have to live in Hollywood to experience the magic=
and=20
excitement of Oscar Night. Residents of Cleveland can join in the festivit=
ies when the=20
Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences stages its 78th Academy Awards=AE=
on Sunday,=20
March 5, 2006, by attending Cleveland's own Academy-sanctioned Oscar Night =
America=20
party. The Cleveland party is one of 46 official parties that will be held=
across the country=20
on Oscar Night.=20=20
The Windows on the River audience will watch the Academy Awards=AE telecast=
on large=20
screens through the courtesy of News Channel 5, WEWS, the Cleveland affilia=
te of the ABC=20
Television Network, which broadcasts the Academy Awards presentation. ABC =
and the=20
Academy are cooperating for the 13th year with local charities to support t=
hese official=20
Oscar Night viewing parties. This year marks the third year that the Cleve=
land party has=20
been officially sanctioned by the Academy.=20=20
"Watching the Academy Awards Show is one of the great American traditions,"=
said=20
Academy Executive Director, Bruce Davis. "Since the public can't come to L=
os Angeles to=20
attend the Awards Presentation, we created Oscar Night America, which allow=
s these local=20
parties to tie into the excitement of Oscar Night and to support some very =
worthy causes."
Official Oscar Night parties last year raised over $2.2 million for local c=
harities in 44 cities.=20=20
All money raised stays in the community; none of it goes to the Academy.=20
The Academy will make available to party guests in Cleveland the same offic=
ial program=20
distributed to guests seated at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood and Highland=
=AE in=20
Hollywood, CA. Copies of the 78th Academy Awards commemorative poster, des=
igned by=20
Joan Maloney of Studio 318, also will be available. With the Academy's hel=
p, our guests=20
will feel like they are part of the A-list. We had an incredibly enthusias=
tic turnout last=20
year. We hope to raise even more money for Independent Pictures this year.=
=20=20
Benefiting Independent Pictures, the Cleveland Oscar Night celebration will=
be held at=20
Windows on the River, 2000 Sycamore Street, Cleveland, OH, beginning at 7:=
00pm.=20=20
