Kalliope Stage opens the world premiere of COMING TO AMERICA this
week. Limited seats are available for discount previews on Thursday
9th and Friday 10th. Opening Saturday 11th is sold out. The show
plays through March 12. Other sold-out performances include February
15 and March 4 right now. It's a new musical comedy done in a
vaudeville-style, and it's a high-profile event for Kalliope and for
Cleveland. Local performer Kim Koljat joins four New York performers,
and they knock themselves out playing dozens of comedic characters
and singing 61 songs. It's a standout bunch of composers (George
Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Victor Herbert, George M
Cohan,) and the arrangements are by PHIL RENO, the conductor/music
director of Broadway's THE PRODUCERS, CATS, etc.

We'll be talking about the show on AROUND NOON tomorrow (Monday,) so
tune in if you're interested in musicals. There was a great article
in the Akron Beacon Journal about the show, and there will be five
more articles this week talking about the really unique experience of
working on this production.
