>From March 31 to April 9, 2006, Stark County will celebrate its first
ever, countywide arts extravaganza.  This endeavor is called Stark Arts
Coming Together 1 (Stark ACT1).

Stark ACT1 will raise awareness of the arts; increase participation in
the arts; and build connections between the arts and the community.
Stark ACT1 has the enthusiastic support of Honorary Chairpersons, Mayor
Francis H. Cicchinelli of Massillon; Mayor Janet Weir Creighton of
Canton; and Mayor Toni E. Middleton of Alliance; of Arts in Stark; and
of all major arts organizations.
Stark County will be filled with a remarkable collection of arts events,
including music, dance, theater, creative writing, and all visual arts.
Businesses will display storefront art and feature lobby musicians.
Schools will collaborate on special projects and will encourage students
to embrace their creativity. Local coffee houses will host poetry
readings. SARTA will have poetry displays on countywide buses.
Libraries throughout the county will serve as "check-out" points for
sidewalk chalk to be used for creating art on sidewalks all over the
county. The possibilities are limitless!
