Hello everyone.
Here is what's happening this weekend at the Oberlin Conservatory of
Music:
Tonight at 8 p.m. in Finney Chapel, the Oberlin Orchestra takes the
stage, under the batons of Bridget-Michaele Reischl and guest
conductor James Feddeck, a graduate of the Conservatory who is
currently enrolled in the master of music program for conducting.
The concert is free and open to the public, and features concerto
competition winner Megan Glover performing Barber's Concerto
for Piano and Orchestra, Op. 38. Also on the program: Sibelius'
Finlandia, Op. 26 and his Symphony No. 2 in D Major, Op. 43.
This is the first concert by the Oberlin Orchestra since the ensemble
returned from a whirlwind tour of China in late December and early
January.
Tomorrow night, the Oberlin Baroque Orchestra, conducted by Jeannette
Sorrell, Music Director of Apollo's Fire, performs in Warner Concert
Hall.
The 8 p.m. concert features works by Purcell, Handel, Vivaldi, and
Boccherini played on instruments from the Conservatory's renowned
period instrument collection.
This concert is also free and open to the public.
Free parking is available throughout the Oberlin campus.
