(March 12, 2006, Akron, Ohio...For Immediate Release) The Bang and the C=
latter Theatre Company, Akron=92s newest professional theatre, will open=
 the second production in their inaugural season this weekend with the o=
pening of Adam Rapp=92s Blackbird, March 16 =96 April 15, 2006 at Summit=
 ArtSpace, 140 East Market Street in downtown Akron. =


Recommended for mature audiences, The Bang and the Clatter Theatre Compa=
ny will be presenting this powerful, premiere, production of Blackbird o=
n Thursdays =96Sundays at 8 p.m. and with matinee only performances on S=
undays March 19& 26 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15.00, with Seniors and Stude=
nts w/ I.D. offered an option of =93Pay as You Can=94 for all seats in t=
he intimate performance space.

There are also Season passes available, on reloadable cards for $75 for =
the six remaining shows and $130 for a couple. There will be a special o=
pening night performance and grand St. Patrick=92s Day reception catered=

Directed by Sean McConaha, Blackbird is set on Christmas Eve in a rented=
 room on Canal Street, New York City.  Baylis (Sean Derry) is a disabled=
 Desert Storm veteran and ex-junkie. Froggy (Alanna Romansky) is a teen =
heroin addict stricken with Hepatitis.  A setting that could hardly be c=
onsidered a bleaker snapshot of the human condition.  However, out of th=
is scenario evolves a bittersweet, evocative love story that penetrates =
through the gloom and leaves you with a glimmer of hope. =


Sean Derry and Sean McConaha have established the Bang and the Clatter T=
heatre Company to produce innovative, challenging works, of exceptional =
quality and imagination with a particular emphasis on modern plays. The =
aim is to create a provocative dialogue between theatre artists and the =
community by producing and promoting plays that explore the boundaries o=
f theatrical style and illuminate the human experience. =
