Hurricane Katrina rocked New Orleans, now some University of Akron students will rock E.J. Thomas hall on April 29, 2006 to support Red Cross relief efforts in New Orleans. "Rockin' for Relief" will be a day of area food, arts, and entertainment to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Event proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for their continued relief efforts in the gulf coast. 
A "Battle of The Bands" contest starts the day from noon until 6:00pm. Fans will be able to vote by donating a dollar per vote for their favorite band, and the winning band will get the opportunity to serve as the opening act for a concert at E.J. later that evening. 

Arts, crafts, and foods will fill the E.J. Thomas lobby all afternoon as area merchants, vendors, and artisans exhibit their specialties. 

The day will conclude with a performance by Ohio's own Blessed Union of Souls, a nationally known recording group with hits like "I Believe," and "Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me)."
