Interested in spending a fun summer in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park
with kids, artists, musicians, and educators? The Cuyahoga Valley National
Park Association is looking for enthusiastic and responsible people to fill
summer camp counselor positions. Look at position announcement below.

Summer Camp Counselor

The Environmental Education Center of Cuyahoga Valley National Park
Association offers a variety of camps for students entering the 4th - 12th
grades. Our goal is for campers to learn more about the environment, the
arts, themselves and their world. We stress individual growth and group
cooperation in a residential camp setting. As many as 80 students will live
at the camp for 6 day sessions. They will enjoy a curriculum concentrating
on appreciation and understanding of the arts and the environment, as well
as take part in recreational opportunities including swimming and campfires.
Campers also make new friends and take on new responsibilities while
building a positive living community.

Position Description:  

*         Participate in our week-long pre-camp training.

*         Implement the purpose, goals, and objectives of the camp.

*         Live in the dormitory and assume responsibility for overnight
camper supervision.

*         Provide leadership and guidance to campers in daily living with
special attention to: safety, health and welfare, personal hygiene, respect
and discipline, and camper participation in all camp activities and meals.

*         Assume responsibility for interpreting the policies and procedures
of the Environmental Education Center to the campers.

*         Serve as a positive role model in making good decisions and
implementing effective practices for the campers.

*         Participate, as a team member, in the guidance of campers in daily
activities.

*         Perform related work as required.

*         Counselors with appropriate skills may be asked to assume
additional responsibilities.

Term:     

June 18th  - August 5th, 2006.  Training will take place for one week,
beginning June 18, 2006.  Camp sessions run June 25th  - August 4th.

Qualifications:

Minimum: 18 years of age, at least one year of college or equivalent
experience. Interest in leading young people and expanding their
appreciation of the arts and the environment.  Enthusiasm, tolerance,
creativity and good physical health required.  Demonstrated leadership
abilities.  Preferred: background in the arts, environment, or education and
experience as a camper or counselor.  Background/fingerprint check, First
Aid & CPR Certification, valid driver's license required.

Pay and Benefits:  

Camp counselor salary is $180/week.  Housing provided in the Environmental
Education Center's dormitories during training and camp.  Meals are provided
when campers are in residence. Limited medical insurance is provided.
