Enjoy an evening of thrill-seeking as the Cleveland Institute of Music =
(CIM)
Orchestra, led by Benjamin Klemme and Lucas Waldin, takes the entire =
family
on a musical ride on Saturday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m.

Hold onto your seats as you twist and turn through many classical =
favorites,
from Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries and Rimsky-Korsakov's The Sea and
Sinbad's Ship from Scheherazade to the wild rides in Aladdin and E.T.!=20

The orchestra has invited some special guests to appear throughout the
evening, including Aladdin, Professor Dumbledore from Harry Potter and =
the
conductor from The Polar Express. Audience members should come ready to
interact with the conductors and the orchestra, and to have their
imaginations captivated! You'll learn about the orchestral instruments =
and
how they contribute to each piece; the style, tempo, dynamics and =
imagery;
and the history of the music being performed.

A dessert reception will follow this exciting performance. Tickets are =
$6
for children, $8.50 for adults, and $5 each for groups of ten or more. =
You
can purchase tickets by calling 216-791-5000, ext. 411, Monday through
Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., or online by visiting cim.edu.

Benjamin Klemme is pursuing a Master of Music degree in orchestral
conducting candidate at CIM, under the tutelage of Carl Topilow and =
Louis
Lane. He also serves as cover conductor and program manager for the
orchestral department. In addition to his conducting studies, Mr. Klemme
actively pursues innovative ways to employ his commitment to classical =
music
education and outreach. As associate conductor of the Northern Iowa =
Youth
Orchestra, he led classical concerts, wrote and delivered scripts for
educational outreach programs, and informed audiences concerning the =
music
performed by the ensemble. In the Cleveland area, he was appointed to
initiate the music department at Lutheran High School East, where he
successfully trained the students in music literacy, history, =
appreciation,
and performance. Before beginning his studies in Cleveland, Mr. Klemme
received a Bachelor of Music degree in education with an emphasis in
trombone performance from the University of Northern Iowa. At UNI, he =
was
trained in orchestral conducting by Dr. Rebecca Burkhardt. A native of =
Iowa,
Mr. Klemme held the positions of assistant conductor of the =
Waterloo-Cedar
Falls Symphony Orchestra, associate conductor of the Northern Iowa Youth
Orchestra and director of music at St. Paul United Methodist Church.=20

Lucas Waldin is also pursuing a Master of Music degree in orchestral
conducting at CIM. He is the founder and director of the Cleveland Bach
Consort, an ensemble dedicated to the performance of both the secular =
and
sacred music of J.S. Bach. Mr. Waldin has spent his summers studying in
Europe, including studies at the International Music Academy, Leipzig, =
the
Bayreuth Youth Orchestra and the Acanthes New Music Festival in France. =
On
this continent, he has studied under the renowned Bach conductor Helmut
Rilling at the Oregon Bach Festival, and has attended conducting master
classes with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra in Toronto, Canada. Mr. =
Waldin
received a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from CIM, =
studying
with Joshua Smith.

CIM extends special thanks to The Harry K. Fox and Emma R. Fox =
Charitable
Foundation for funding this wonderful family event.
