PRESS RELEASE TRUENORTH CONCERT – THIS WEEK
FEATURING THE TRUENORTH CHORALE AND SYMPHONY
AND THE BOWLING GREEN STATE UNIVERSITY A CAPPELLA CHOIR
TrueNorth Cultural Arts will be presenting “A Lenten Journey Through the Arts” featuring the TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony this Saturday, April 8, 7:30 p.m. at the United Church of Christ in Avon Lake. Special guests will include the Bowling Green State University A Cappella Choir, Earthen Vessels, and the premiere performance / introduction of two new programs at TrueNorth, the TrueNorth Dance & Drama Troupes. The concert will be highly diverse, offering choral, instrumental, dance and drama literature within the Lenten theme as Christians around the world prepare for Palm Sunday, Holy Week and the celebration of Easter.
The TrueNorth Chorale and Symphony has had a very active program year, performing a special concert remembering September 11, as well as their Fall and Christmas concerts. This spring they will be performing Ralph Vaughan Williams Donna Nobis Pacem on May 20th and their annual summer Patriotic Concert on July 2nd for the Avon Lake Community ‘Fest at TrueNorth. The Chorale and Symphony comprise of 75+ musicians from around the area.
BGSU A Cappella Choir is a select, auditioned, SATB choral ensemble that performs sacred and secular music from a variety of style periods. Although designed for music majors and minors, the choir is open to students from other University degree programs. In addition to campus performances, the A Cappella Choir has performed at various community venues including schools and churches and has been featured on several musical arts series. In addition, the choir performed at the 2004 Ohio Music Education Association Conference in Columbus. Off-campus concerts this season include a performance of the Berlioz Te Deum with the Toledo Symphony Orchestra and on the Musical Arts Series at Trinity Episcopal Church in Toledo.
Earthen Vessels is a group of musicians who lead at various worship services throughout the area presenting music, drama, dance and meditations.
The TrueNorth Dance & Drama Troupes hold classes throughout each week at TrueNorth for students of all ages, interests and skill levels. Please visit www.TNCArts.org for further information.

The Concert costs $8.00 in advance and $10.00 at the door for Adults and $5.00 in advance and $8.00 at the door for Students and Seniors. Tickets are available through any TrueNorth musician, or may be purchased at the TrueNorth Gallery, open Monday through Saturday, 12 noon, at the TrueNorth Arts Center, 33491 Lake Road in the Old Saddle Inn.
