If you study the history of this country you'll find people like
Ernest Angley have been around for a couple hundred years. Pointing
to that mindset as a reason for a recent decline in theater
attendance -- a "decline" that hasn't even been proven to exist -- is
rather fallacious.
There's been more than 500 postings to this list in the last three
weeks or so, the overwhelming percentage advertising live
performances occurring or needing performers. The community theater
group for which I work has seen increasing audience sizes in the past
three years; perhaps any "decline" people are complaining about is
just a matter of more events and venues in a region of negligible
population growth.
In any event, my opinion of people like Angley is similar to yours. I
don't subscribe to this list, however, to read about religion -- or
politics.
