The Contemporary Youth Orchestra (CYO) ends kits season by opening Blossom Music Center’s, performing with the legendary rock band Styx.  CYO’s 6th-annual Rock the Orchestra concert takes place on the evening of Thursday, May 25.
   
  CYO’s Rock the Orchestra series celebrates the convergence of classical and popular music.   Previous CYO concert collaborations have included guest performances by Pat Benatar, Graham Nash, Ray Manzarek (of the Doors) and Jon Anderson (of Yes). This concert will be recorded for an upcoming television special.  
  
CYO, the recipient of the Northern Ohio Live Award of Achievement in the Classical Music category, is a nonprofit youth orchestra, in residence at Cleveland State University. CYO is the first and only youth orchestra in the country dedicated exclusively to the study and performance of contemporary orchestral literature. .
   
  Styx, whose 16 Top 10 hits included “Lady,” “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Too Much Time On My Hands,” and “Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man),” released its latest album, Big Bang Theory, including their recent radio hit, a cover of the Beatles’ “I Am The Walrus,” in May 2005. Styx was the first band to have four consecutive triple-platinum albums (The Grand Illusion, Pieces Of Eight, Cornerstone, and #1 Paradise Theatre).  Since its debut in 1972, the band has also earned double-platinum, platinum and five gold albums.
