What do you get when you throw a bright and wise-cracking 12-year-old =
boy into a horn-locking theological battle with a 70-something, =
no-nonsense nun? It's a nostalgic and hilarious look back at a Catholic =
upbringing in the 1950s that's sure to warm the heart.

September 6 -- October 1, 2006

DIRECTOR: Bob Belfance, who returns to Weathervane after a 15-year =
hiatus (which followed a 30-year tenure as Weathervane's artistic and =
managing director). He began his career as a professional actor at the =
age of nine and, in the course of his career, has directed more than 200 =
plays and musicals, produced and directed several award-winning =
documentary films, owned and operated his own theater, and provided the =
voices for many radio and TV commercials in Ohio.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Please prepare a two-minute monologue. It is =
strongly recommended that all auditioning be familiar with the script. =
Script copies are available for borrowing (with a $5 refundable deposit) =
for a brief sign-out period. For scripts, please visit the Playhouse Box =
Office in person Mondays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.=20

CAST REQUIREMENTS

The Pazinski Family

Chet Pazinski: A man in his mid 40s. As a boy, he was wounded physically =
and psychologically. As an adult, he struggles valiantly to do what's =
best for his family.

Ellen Pazinski: A woman in her early 40s. She is a loving woman who is =
able to adapt and shift emotionally depending on the needs of her =
husband and children. She is also tough when she needs to be.=20

Their Children

Rudy: A precocious, energetic 12-year-old boy with a quick mind. He can =
imitate Ed Sullivan.

Georgie: A mentally challenged 13-year-old boy who lives in a sunny =
world with occasional dark clouds. He possesses a strong need to =
communicate.

Eddie: A rebellious 15-year-old boy who is convinced that he is smarter =
than his parents.

Annie: A 16-year-old plumply pubescent girl who struggles with confusing =
sexual stirrings.

And...

Sister Clarissa: A woman in her 70s who is a nun of the "old school." =
Though not a caricature, she is a tough disciplinarian (complete with =
ruler!) who also has an occasional gentleness.

WHEN ARE THE REHEARSALS?

A complete schedule of rehearsals will be provided at the time of the =
auditions.

WEATHERVANE'S CASTING POLICY

All roles are available. Weathervane Playhouse is committed to =
non-traditional casting. Except in cases where race, gender, age or =
disability is essential to the play, all roles will be cast on the basis =
of talent. Weathervane Community Playhouse is a community theater. All =
performers in all productions are volunteers.
